15 years smoking Habanos... And I've just had my first ever Raphael Gonzales Petit Corona.

Seriously guys... This is a real awakening for me... Absolutely brilliant cigar. Brilliant!

Started elegantly and with style.

Built up in intensity and "oomph"

Finished with a bang...

Totally satisfying in every way.

Obviously I'll reserve final judgement when I've had at least a dozen... But on this single alone I can see a bulk multiple box purchase coming up soon.

Sven, post a special on these and I'll be all over them!

I had a similar experience, Rob. Recently bought in on a 2 box special of RG Coronas. Already had 3 and I've been overly impressed, surpassing my expectations. Actually, since they're discontinued I'm budgeting to stock up on a few more. I'd dive right into a box of the PC. Thanks for giving me another reason, Rob cigar.gif

Now that I've had my time with RG, last on my list is to get my hands on some Quai d'Orsay. A common theme between these two are how aging impacts the flavor they produce... for the better.

RG has been one of my favourite brands for more than twenty years now, happy to see that you have discovered them to your taste. That said, and as you know it perfectly, personal tastes change over the years and you may not have liked them 15 years ago!

Best,

Michel

Total agreement here... and the lonsdale too. Honestly cannot get enough of these, for value and smoke.

The Lonsdales are fantastic but also discontinued... LCDH in Montreal 3-4 boxes of them from 03-04 but at LCDH prices shead.gif

Excited to hear about your epiphany! I purchased a box of PCs from Svens sales a month or so ago. Haven't touch one yet, and like you I am a RG virgin. Excited to try one more than ever now.

Cheers!

Same situation here, Simon, a few boxes of RG Lonsdales from 2000 at Canadian prices!

Rob - what was the date on these? Mine are only a few months old.

I was surprised to see the recommendation on the top of the box. Something along the line of " if not smoked within the first month of box date, wait until at least a year for maximum enjoyment". Not verbatim...but close enough.

I was going to go by their recommendation, but if you account that they are good to go......by all means.

Perfect day in Chicago today. Sat out with the dog and smoked a RG Coronas Extra from a box I bought in 06. I was not in love with this cigar when young . In fact I gifted a few away during the past 6 years. Decided to try one on today and WOW ! This was a great cigar. Cocoa , cream and raisins for me. Loved it. The years of age have really awakened this one. This is the only RG I have. May be time to look into adding more RG to the humi.

Can't beat RG - if you like the PC, try to get a hold of some Panetelas (NOT the short filler Panetelas Extra). They are fantastic!!

The box I have is July 11.

They are a light Colorado colour, with a little claro about them. No oils or sheen on the wrappers. A slight box press, that reminds me of a Monte 4 or Boli PC.

The flavour profile from the 2 I've now had is an evolving combination of shortbread biscuit, and other 'not so sweet' deserts. They have an amazingly long finish that is very pleasant and satisfying.
