sactochris Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 I'm going to London in two weeks and was wondering which UK RE's you thought were the best? Any other London cigar advice would also be appreciated.
Blackham Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 I'm going to London next month too, hope this helps http://thehaversack.blogspot.ca/2012/07/a-cigar-tour-of-london.html
CaptainQuintero Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 JJ Fox has to be your number one stop, amazingly friendly staff and fantastic store For me the La Flor De Cano Short Robusto has to be your first pick, it's in my top three cigars ever, it's so delicious! The rest range from naff to good depending on the example you get, CC has been an issue for me. You're probably better off grabbing some LFDCs and then spending the rest of your time/money trying some of the aged/discontinued cigars. You're going to enjoy decade old Partagas etc a lot more! Bring a coat
winelover Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Bolivar Belicosos RE 04/05 - if you can find them. Bring more money than you think you'll need as prices are sky high.
sactochris Posted October 10, 2012 Author Posted October 10, 2012 The LFDC Short Robusto is first on my list, followed by the Bolivar Britanica, and then the new Ramon Allones.
Smallclub Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 I would look at the Juan Lopez Seleccion Suprema from 2009 rather than the Britanicas…
mk05 Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Bolivar Belicosos RE 04/05 - if you can find them. Bring more money than you think you'll need as prices are sky high. This guy knows what he's talking about! Liked it better than the French version.
CaptainQuintero Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Bolivar Belicosos RE 04/05 - if you can find them. Bring more money than you think you'll need as prices are sky high. This guy knows what he's talking about! Liked it better than the French version. There wasn't a UK Bolivar Belicosos RE in 04/05????
almudawi Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 There wasn't a UK Bolivar Belicosos RE in 04/05???? There was.. Well not exactly an official RE but deemed by many as the cigar that started the RE trend. The RA Beli were commissioned by H&F in limited quantity to be exclusively sold in the UK market
shrink Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Agree with the RA Belicosos, but would also add: 2008 Punch Serie d'Oro No.1 2008 La Gloria Cubana Gloriosos 2010 Por Larranaga Regalias de Londres
CaptainQuintero Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Yeah there was a Ramon Allones one in '05, no regional bands, they are still around. I'm not aware of any Bolivar Beli RE though, have you guys been sniffing paint thinner again?
mk05 Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 HAHA!? I totally assumed he was talking about the RA. Well played CQ, well played.
khomeinist Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Magnificos and Sel Suprema my favorite But what do I know
Justmi Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Bolivar Belicosos RE 04/05 - if you can find them. Bring more money than you think you'll need as prices are sky high. I agree with Graham. UK online: double usual price, in store: triple usual price. Cigar bar: quadruple usual price. I avoid the UK stores now as its ridiculous.
winelover Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 There wasn't a UK Bolivar Belicosos RE in 04/05???? Ramon Allones is what I meant. Thanks for spotting the detail. G
almudawi Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Yeah there was a Ramon Allones one in '05, no regional bands, they are still around. I'm not aware of any Bolivar Beli RE though, have you guys been sniffing paint thinner again? Opsss It was waaayy too early for me! Yeah no Boli belicoso REs, I meant the Ramon Allones ones.. I'll go back to my hole now
mazolaman Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 One of the few RE I thought was worth smoking...Pl Regalias De Londres. Otherwise, get some aged stuff, and agree with the above, just head for JJ Fox.
winelover Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Yeah there was a Ramon Allones one in '05, no regional bands, they are still around. If they are still around, I thoroughly recommend trying one Captain. See what you think. Stunning
MPS Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 The UK has the best regional program by far. Hard to pick a favorite but it would have to be Magnificos for me. Class all the way.
CaptainQuintero Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 It was late for me too lol, I re-read the thread about four times to make sure I wasn't seeing things! I thought I was short circuiting
Smallclub Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Yeah there was a Ramon Allones one in '05, no regional bands, they are still around. There was a second release of this cigar in 2007, with a POS box code. Orchant Seleccion, according to … M. Orchant's blog…
CaptainQuintero Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 If they are still around, I thoroughly recommend trying one Captain. See what you think. Stunning What I've seen are only being sold as whole boxes sadly, nothing quite like dropping a monkey on a whim! Strange that the price hasn't really changed in 7 years though.
sactochris Posted October 16, 2012 Author Posted October 16, 2012 I would still love to hear some more advice on my upcoming trip to The Smoke. I'm staying at the Park Lane Sheraton in Mayfair. I would love to know of some pubs that have outdoor smoking facilities. I don't want to have to spend all of my money smoking at the cigar terraces at the high end hotels. I have a pretty good handle on which cigar shops I want to visit and which cigars I'm looking to purchase. I would love some solid pub and resteraunt advice and perhaps how I might get my hands on a ticket for the Arsenal/Qpr match without paying a large fortune for it.
