Orion21 Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 I'm trying to gauge if they are worth the extra premium? How do they compare to young Royal Robustos?
ramon_cojones Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 They're ELs so I'd take royal robustos over them every day of the week.
maverickdrinker Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Just smoked one. I like the RR better. Sent from my SGH-I747M using Tapatalk 2
Lotusguy Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 The RR are LEAGUES better. For me, they are in the same category as the Trini Short Robusto T and Partagas D Especial in terms of LEs, I'm afraid. In other words: overpriced crap (at least fresh) I had two of them so far and have no desire to taste another. 4 other BOTLs that were with me in Germany and tasted them as well shared my opinion.
Zigatoh Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 I hope they're better than the HU RR. Odd thing to say as the HU RRs are fantastic, or at least the '12s are (not tried the '11s)
ramon_cojones Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 I wouldn't put too much stock into an opinion formed by one person with a one cigar sample.
maverickdrinker Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 would you put stock in someone who has already chosen one cigar over another without even trying it yet?
LLC Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 would you put stock in someone who has already chosen one cigar over another without even trying it yet? Classic
ramon_cojones Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 would you put stock in someone who has already chosen one cigar over another without even trying it yet? Are you and LLC ganging up on me? LOL It's an EL, should I have piggy come in here and post?
LLC Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Are you and LLC ganging up on me? LOL It's an EL, should I have piggy come in here and post? Not at all but got a good chuckle out of the post I had quoted.
mk05 Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 The one that was sent to us from Cuba was very good when it was fresh. Spivy received it and we smoked it together. I thought it was rather delicious, like a cross between a Mag 48 and a Connie #1. I suppose it may be entering its first maturation period now, perhaps. Can't compare this to the Royal Robusto...better comparison would be the 520...which is just, whelming, for the arm and leg it commands outside of Cuba. That said, I would not pay the price when I can get 2 boxes of Connie #1's. Go buy the Mag 48's instead. Don't be so angry at the EL program, They are aimed at a different market.
thecrowder Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 I've smoked two of them so far and found them both to be quite boring.
nick17 Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 I will post a quick review of the series C and upmann tomorrow
Wil Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 Odd thing to say as the HU RRs are fantastic, or at least the '12s are (not tried the '11s) In which case, they would be better than fantastic?! How do they compare to the Upmann travel humidor robustos?
nick17 Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I'm still writing my reviews f the two but I can say that the party C is good but the upmann is better (thats my two cents on them)
