I am gearing up for some more box purchases after liquidating some of my collection and I was wondering how the JLS2 and Trini Coloniales are smoking these days. Any box codes to look for, or are the 11/12s fairly consistent?

E: Also, the Partagas 898s

Narrowed it down from a big list. I have a ton of Ramon allones but I'm lacking trini and jls. I am a big fan of the jls I've had so I figured a box of 2s would be in order.

With Trinidad I would recommend the Fundadores or Reyes instead. While I like the Coloniales, I think these are the hits of the Marca. Never had a JL I enjoyed except the Andorra RE.

I can't speak for the coloniales, but the JLS2s from '12 so far have been very good. Decent right out of the box with a lot of potential over time

Coloniales are my absolute favorite Trini with the Reyes in 2nd and the Funi 3rd due to it being so inconstant.

OUS OUR coded 09 Coloniales had been excellent.

Reyes are fantastic, have gone through and stocked up on many. I believe MSE FEB 12 to be the most consistently superb.

JL2 were bad '09 - early '11 to me. NOV 11 and all '12 have been oily, dark, and very rich.

Good luck

I'd recommend avoiding trinidad period.

Trying to wrap my head around this, very good but decent? confused.gif

I agree here, never been a massive fan of Coloniales compared to the other Trini's

I've got a Nov '11 box and agree with this entirely! Hearing the same about the '12's makes me think I should grab one of those too for the longer term.

Trinidad is the most hotly debated of all the marcas. To me the Coloniales are the gem of the line.

Re JL, go for the 1s before the 2s.

I am a big fan of the rob T and rob x but I just can't justify the price they bring. The coloniales have been good to me which is why I chose them.

However I am starting to rethink my strategy and perhaps stick with the jls2, as I've been saying I need a box for months now, and do a little more exploration in the shorter cigars. Maybe Reyes is the way to go or maybe some rascc/hup half corona for the winter.

JLS2 from 2011 are indeed very good (and far cheaper that the Coloniales).

Best,

Michel

Coloniales have been good, but they need some decent age on them to be at their peak. Reyes are better young.

I can't comment on the JL#2s, but I have some from Rob and plan to try one soon. They are dark and oily, and smell strong.

The recent 2012 JL2's that I have tried are going to be very good. They had some good rich flavor, pecan nut and light leather but taste a little young. Get some, give them a little time and you will be rewarded.

I'm looking at trini Reyes (getting a deal on multi boxes so its the same price as rascc/half corona) and the jls 1/2. I hate making decisions sometimes.
