El Presidente Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 I looked at the invitation and Dom's Christening was on Sunday at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Redcliffe. I had a little trouble finding it given it was actually the Holy Cross Church...but Hey... I doubt Lisa had ever been there before and ...well...Spirit/cross/spirit....who cares As the Godfather I got to stand with proud parents Lisa and Frank up front. The Priest commenced proceedings bu asking Lisa why she was here. Lisa replied "so that Tom would grow up to be a good person". Priest " that's your Job" Lisa " to introduce him to the church" Priest" that's your job" ....Lisa was getting flustered and my PSST....PSSST "Baptism...say Baptism...was getting a little loud. Finally the priest said ...yes baptism...you are here for Baptism...give a prize to the Godfather. The Next question has us all in stitches as we were talking about saints and who could name a couple. He obviously realised that some people in the crowd were less than spiritual (smithy had just walked in). And so the priest looked at Lisa and said....."Of Course Australia has had its first saint of recent times...her name being Mary...." He looked at Lisa for the sirname ".....I kept whispering Mackillop......Mary Mackillop..." "Lisa was a dear in the spotlights.......she blurted out Ma...Ma....Ma....Magdallen" I said a little too loud "Mackillop...Mackillop...Magdallen was the Prostitute!" Lisa forgetting where she was said ..."you'd know" .. And so the priest realised that the poor child needed extra spiritual attention which is the only reason I can explain why he literally poured a 5 litre bucket of water over his head soaking him to the bone. What a great day!!! 60-70 people. drink, food, laughter, madness a plenty. Love you Lise. I will spiritually guide Dom to the best of my ability....or subcontract and just do the good stuff Did I mention Smithy arrived at the 10:15 am Christening drunk ...appalling behaviour
riazp Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 what a cute child! Lisa you are truly blessed! Enjoy!...oh and good luck with Rob as the godfather...lol
maverickdrinker Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Such beautiful pictures. What a joyous event! He is a cutie. Does this mean that Rob's gonna change his screen name to the godfather?!? LOL

ZinZan Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 The last person I'd thought would know any of the answer would be Rob...... Wait Ken would be the last person!!!!

El Presidente Posted August 28, 2012 Author Posted August 28, 2012 The last person I'd thought would know any of the answer would be Rob...... Wait Ken would be the last person!!!! I beg your pardon! ritan Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Oh, that was a hilarious account...! Thanks for posting this.
First Lady Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Okay I have to stand up for myself somewhat Dominic didn't sleep well the night before and I was slightly tired and how was I to know I had to answer questions before going into the church I am somewhat rusty with church I have to admit LOL but at least I was there I feel sorry for Dominic he paid for my errors at least he had practice of going under water at swimming Love you to godfather , Smithy I would not expect you to turn up any other way but still drunk
WarriorPrincess Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Ok here is my version of the day..... Rob got lost, Lisa should have asked for a "Lifeline" for multiple question asked.... my son asked if this was "who wants to be a millionaire" for the church. Lisa failed big time in the questions, who wouldn't, I would have just walked away and got got a glass of wine. Then when the priest poured a pitcher of water on Dom i swear my mother was ready to attack My Aunty just laughed so much I thought she would wet her pants. The rest of the day passed with a lot of drinking ( not me I had to drive home)I know you are all shocked, so was I!!!! Lots of laughing, food and socializing. Great day Lisa and Frank, I tell you we certainly know how to have a good time. Thanks heaps love you both, yes I am a proud Aunty I might add that Smithy did turn up late, he went to the Funeral Parlor next door got dressed in the car and unshaven, god love him wouldn't have him any other way.
First Lady Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 We are blessed that we had perfect Queensland winters day and that we had all our loved family and friends with us on ths special day, lots of memories of great day that will make it stay in our minds forever I will post more photos when my laptop is fixed
asmith Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Fantastic day, still a bit worried about Lisa's choice of a God Father but only time will tell. It was a beautiful winter's day, I do recall a mountain of food and a lot of children running around making for a perfect day. As for the rumors that I turned up late, drunk, unshaven, wrong location and inappropriately dressed they are yet to be proven.
Guest rob Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Dominic definitely looks like a 'Little Man'! Congratulations to the famiglia!!
CaptainQuintero Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Looked like a great day! Where is the video of Ken's speech at the pulpip?!
OZCUBAN Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Great Stuff Lise Dominic is very blessed ,apart from his good looks ,he is blessed to have such a loving family ,and dare I say a godfather that looks as proud as Punch ,( no cigar pun intended) While not a "churchy" person myself ,the Batism gives him options later in life. I am sure that you will teach him in ways and life every bit as good as any Church So glad for you both Lots of love Steve and Lucinda
bobsled Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Super pictures, beautiful family! Good luck and God bless you and yours!

Dbone Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 The stories and pictures just bring a smile to my face. You all are lucky to have found each other, keep the good times rolling
hdryder Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 I hope that the reason for Smitty going to the funeral parlor wasnt to get a suit prior to changing it the car.
greenpimp Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 I've been to boatloads of baptisms, but been to one with a quiz section. Only with you guys. What was the priest, a Monty Python extra? Great pics the kid looks wonderful. I did note the conspicuous absence of Smithy...was he lying down in the pews?
winelover Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Congrats Lisa, lovely pics - can't believe my eyes seeing Rob scrubbing up in a suit! Graham
