Guest Robo
Got some recent acquisitions lately. Below is a box of 10 HQ Short Hoyo Pirimides and 25 HQ Monte #5. I ripped the Monte box getting those pesky gov't warning labels off. I also picked up 1L Ardbeg 10 and 1L Woodford Reserve (going to start drinking bourbon with my cigars, did I get a good one? any recommendations?) These HQ Short Hoyo Piramides, box code OGA SEP 11, were won at the LFTH on June 19. I'm gonna let these one's rest for a while. When I opened this box of HQ Monte #5, box code LEM JUL 11, I almost fell over. I had to smoke a couple even before taking any pictures. Letting these age may be an exercise in futility! Here are a sample of both cigars close up. Happy smoking!
Hypersomniac
Very nice. Those cigars look amazing, and I happen to like Woodford Reserve. I've never had the Ardbeg though.

cottierm
And so Rob, Ardbeg 10? How strange... Best, Michel
CigarAsh
Bourbon suggestions: 1) Blanton's - my favorite 2) Elijah Craig 18 Bourbon is one of my favorite cigar pairings. Seems to go really well with Montes (like my last Grand Edmundo).
hdryder
How was the Monty #5? I picked up a box from the monty special awhile back but havent smoked any yet.
Guest Robo
And so Rob, Ardbeg 10? How strange... Best, Michel It was the best one they had at the Duty Free Americas. I was actually dissappointed at the selection. I was looking for Lagavulin 16, but there was none. Highland Park, which you had also recommended, none. They had lots of Glenlivet, Glenfiddich, MacAllan 'duty free' selections, Glenmoranie, Ardmore. The other selections that interested me were the Laphroig 10, Dalwhinnie 15 and Coal Ila 12. In the end I felt the Ardbeg 10 was the best decision.
Miami101
I will be right over to help you with your issue. I will bring my lighter, and we can smoke them...problem gone.
Guest Robo
How was the Monty #5? I picked up a box from the monty special awhile back but havent smoked any yet. The two that I smoked I was pleased with. Excellent construction and draw, good amounts of smoke and full flavoured. I remember thinking that they didn't taste like a typical monte #5... but still lots of rich flavours. I think that these will age well if you can stand letting them sit. To be honest, I'm tempted to get another LEM box of Monte #5, or a 10 box of LEM Monte #2, they look really good too.
phidelt076
Those Monte's look tasty. I'm a big fan of the Woodford Reserve. A good friend of mine introduced me to it about 10 years ago and I usually have a bottle of it at home.
cottierm
And that was also the one we had when you came to visit me! Caol Ila 12 is very good as well by the way. I had a glass of Highland Park 25 years old at my father-in-law's place last week and it was quite an experience! All the best, Michel
winelover
I'm sure you'll love Ardbeg. Not for the faint hearted though, particularly at 46 % Nice sticks too. G
El Rushbo
Fan of the Ardbeg 10; but as mentioned, STRONG. I see you mentioned the Lag 16; found it to be really 'medicinal' for my taste. I'm a huge Bourbon fan. I've tried to get exotic, but keep coming back to Makers and Elijah Craig. With Makers, I've become a big fan of the Makers 46; little different profile, and super smooth. As far as the Elijah Craig goes, give the 12-year a chance first; it's great stuff and priced well. I'm actually getting away from bourbon a bit. More and more rum. Love the Zacapa 23 and Zaya; a great pairing with a good cigar.
partifan
Woodford Reserve is solid. Try Four Roses, it is a budget bourbon masterpiece.
GotMuscle
Soo beautiful. So so beautiful. Nice pick up man!
ramon_cojones
Current zaya has too much vanilla for me and as for the medicinality bit of scotch well that's kind of the point of islays. My rotation is laph 10 cask strength, quarter cask, ardbeg oogie, talisker 10/18 and hp18. For rums I do el dorado 15 and zacapa xo.

qman22
I like bourbon with my cigars as well. I would recommend Elmer T Lee and Four Roses Single Barrel if you can find them. Don't know much about scotch...
