Currently, I have a 100 count humidor filled to the rafters with smokes. My problem is that some of these puppies need to sit and age a while and they're filling up valuable space where smoke-able sticks should be sitting. So I'd like to buy another humidor strictly for the sticks that need a little aging. 100 count or so should do.

I recently moved outside of a tiny, podunk town where humidors are unheard of. And internet research is a bit sketchy. I don't get to test the seal first hand and prices are all over the place. One site has a 100 count humidor for 150 bucks and another site has that exact same humidor for 275.

Any suggestions where I should be looking for reliable, on-line humidor shopping? Hopefully, within a $200 dollar range. My last name isn't Rockefeller. Btw, I'm in Canada.

Help a brutha out :)

Im sure almost everyone is going to respond by telling you to ditch the humidor idea and spend $50 on a 40-80 quart cooler with a pound of RH beads so that you have plenty of room to grow with this addiction. You will not regret it and save yourself a $100

When you're talking cooler are you talking camping cooler...like a Coleman? And if so, what do you do for a humidifier? Just a pound of beads in an ice-cream pail? How do you set such a beast up?

I divided the pound of beads into four equal portions and put them in panty hose sacks and put them in the four corners of the cooler and then use a little fan on a timer for air circulation

Just a plain ok Coleman cooler with a good seal is by far the best humidor ever created. The RH beads creat and maintain the humidity. If you search, some here favor a cheaper alternative in unscented kitty litter

Here is what you want...link

Like other people mention buy some beads, hydrometer, and stick in the basement. You are good to go. I have 5 of them in my basement!

cooler is such an unfortunate sight

break down and get yourself an aristocrat

Yeah, because they are in the $200 range, like the OP clearly stated

Coolidor you say...hmmm. I love that idea. In fact, I may just pick an extra cooler this weekend.

One question. I read in the tutorial section that if I store my sticks in boxes, no singles in the coolidor, then I really don't need to line it with Spanish cedar. Is that true?

Thanks again for the info. Awesomeness!

Absolutely, the boxes are made from cedar so you shouldn't need to buy extra. I store singles in my desktop humi and boxes in the coolidor.

Just ordered everything to set up a new coolerdor today. I have a small one and found it wasn't nearly big enough...going with a 70qt this time around. Total cost is a little over $150 US and I figure I can fit 20+ boxes in there. Here is a list of what I ordered with links:

Cooler - bigger is better....trust me!

Beads - two of these babies should keep humidity perfect for a 70 qt cooler

Hygrometer - great hygrometer and comes with the calibration kit

I do line mine with spanish cedar, but I'm into woodworking and have a bunch in the garage. Probably not necessary but it smells soooo good when you open it up!

Those beads are amazing. So much so that I may have overdone it. In my large humidor (400 ct), one pound of moistened beads (and admittedly, a bit of green foam left-- I wasn't sure I trusted the beads yet), and I can't get the humidity to fall under 70%. Some sticks are spongy, but most are in boxes so they're ok.

So yes, beads in a cooler would work a charm. A wine fridge, even left off, would look nicer, but cost more.

Geez, that is a nice setup...and an even nicer stash of smokes. Got 3 mores boxes on the way so I'm definitely getting a coolidor on the go.
