Colt45 Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 So....I just spent the afternoon getting OC / "pepper" sprayed - what shall I do???? I'd think you'd be used to it by now
CM125 Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 I am like Tmac been there done that do not get sweaty later it will reactivate it and it will hurt like you just got sprayed again. Feels like liquid hell have fun Curtis
CanuckSARTech Posted May 17, 2012 Author Posted May 17, 2012 First shower, and the continuing / revitalized skin reaction (you can see the skintone difference really heavily around my neck especially).... Sent from my iPhone via Tapatalk.
CanuckSARTech Posted May 17, 2012 Author Posted May 17, 2012 I've had a few PM's, asking me if it affected my breathing and whatnot. No, it didn't directly affect my breathing. Held my breath when they were actually spraying it. But....firstly, I've got asthma, so that doesn't help, plus, I've actually been pretty sick for the past EIGHT freakin' days with strep-throat and a flu, so the compounded effect sucked. I've been hoarse, but getting my voice back, but after the scenario and the reaction, I pretty much lost my voice again due to it all. Worst effect was when I had to start washing it off - then everything flared up worse. And, I was smoking a PL Robusto RE. Rob and others have been talking about the PL RE's lately, so I wanted to light one up as an "accomplishment" reward. Didn't get too much out of it though, unfortunately. Some burnt brown sugar, and almost a wicker/rattan furniture aroma. But, my senses are just shot right now. It didn't necessarily help the pain (smoked it about an hour after being sprayed), but it was a nice reward. I've had this done before, and it sucked. Just sucked. But that was also with a "neutralization agent" spray used immediately afterwards, so my re-up time was much quicker then (about 15-20 minutes until fully functional again). This time, this was au naturel, with just water and baby shampoo (about 35 minutes, a fair bit longer). So, this was a bit worse. Some course mates got some great video of the event. I'll have to see if I can share that or not (these pictures are okay, but I'll have to clarify with staff about the vids). But....the video might not clear Czar's new language guidelines....
Ginseng Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Yikes. What kind of training was this a component of? Wilkey
nick17 Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 that does not look like fun but hey I guess you gotta take your lumps and bumps and move one
Fuzz Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 I hear dunkin' your head in a bucket of full cream milk is an effective antidote to pepper/capsicum spray.
dicko Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 I always thought your face needed some "treatment" Keith
cigcars Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Welcome to the fellowship of "Satan's Jockstrap" action all over your face, buddy! There's one of those wise old sayings that go, "What may be bitter to endure may be sweet to remember!" And just to be sure we remembered they filmed us on hand held video cameras to reminisce at all the fun and laughs of people running, screaming, one poor officer ran off into the woods tearing her clothes off - her bra off! - etc. Like they say, you don't care! "What is a tittie," they said, "when you're burning that bad!" I had taken the precaution of taking 40,000mg. Cayenne pepper capsules before our turn. It DID help - my eyes surprisingly were alright, but I did do a lot of "OOOOOHHHHH!!!" We figured the reasoning in that was we have to know how bad it is before sending us out on the streets with this stuff, else we may be inclined to use it anytime we got crossed... Hmmmm. Well, be thankful it's over and do pray you're not required to go through it again like some trainers and instructors do again and again - Yikes!
iGrizz Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Pepper spray sucks. Job requirement where I work because we have it but will probably never use it.
Puros Y Vino Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Damn...couldn't have happened to a nicer g..... errr I mean. That's terrible!! Shouldn't they be teaching you to dodge that stuff? And not take a shower in it?
PigFish Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Canada News: Just in... a strange man attempts to light his cigar with a hairspray can and a disposable lighter today to protest people with long hair and the anti-smoking laws. While no permanent damage was done to the man, some were saying, "He looks like he was hit with pepper spray!" The man, still cheery in spirit, left smoking his cigar and indicated, "I think I will go back to groping waitresses, it is more fun and less painful!!!" Hat-tap: What's News In the North -the Pig
ChanceSchmerr Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Ahhh..quit yer whinin' Keith! Us Navy folks have to go down to the Tear Gas hut regularly for refresher training - I kind of enjoy it! Actually. Scratch that. The Gas Hut sucks - Almost as bad as the scorching, scratch-your-eyes-out stinging pain is the lousy decontaminating goop you smear all over yourself to "clean up". Haha seriously, looks pretty painful, dude. Hopefully your palate improves soon to properly enjoy a cigar! Is it true you can put pepper spray on eggs? "Mmmm..incapacitating!"
CanuckSARTech Posted May 18, 2012 Author Posted May 18, 2012 Yikes. What kind of training was this a component of? Wilkey Work (military police). I hear dunkin' your head in a bucket of full cream milk is an effective antidote to pepper/capsicum spray. Urban myth. Doesn't work. I always thought your face needed some "treatment" Keith Can't get much worse anyways.....

CS gas was last summer, at Basic. Chris, gas is nothing in comparison. Honestly, about a tenth compared to this, when you factor the sensation levels and whatnot, and the capacity for some sort of neutralization agent (with the sudecon scrub of the CS gas, compared to the water and baby soap with the OC spray). OC spray is just nasty stuff - and sort of effective. Some people almost locked right up from it. I was able to fight through it, and have the worst of it kick in only about a minute in. That's a LOT of time for a bad guy to close the gap. It all depends on how the person's bodily response handles it. I was pretty good compared to most. But....it sucked.
CanuckSARTech Posted May 18, 2012 Author Posted May 18, 2012 "NO means NO Keith!" LOL. That's what I get for being a NASCAR fan, huh??!?!
coblos Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Meh,I got this every time the wife throws chilies in the fry pan.
