Is there a place on Havana House where I can get a list of certified retailers dealing in authentic Cubans?

I'm thinking of ordering some cigars online but I don't want to waste my time and money by ordering fakes. I think it's against forum rules, for some reason, to mention retailers so I'll refrain from mentioning the web address...although that would make this a whole lot easier if I could.

The reason is simple. ***** is a great retailer. Next post **** sold me fake Monte 2. Next post ***** is a standup guy. Next post **** is a duchebag.

In the end good retailers are bagged often by people with a past bone to pick or because DK Tosser still reads Cigar Nexus for determining fakes and believes he is the self appointed Wikepedia of Cuban Cigar retailers.

Good member here will PM you. Hell if they don't, PM me and I will give you someone to go to.

Why not order from Rob? Most reliable!

Hmmm..good question. To be quite frank, the site I was speaking of was clearly the least expensive of all the online retailers. But as per your suggestion, I checked out Rob's shop and to be honest...I can't even figure out how to pay. Lol!! It lists payment methods as either "fax" or "direct one." I don't own a fax machine and I haven't a clue as to what direct one is referring to. I'm going to PM Rob as see what he suggests.

Edit. Ok, I think directone is a form of online credit card payment much like PayPal is here in North America. I tell ya, if the "all in" price is accurate Rob may be my new "go to guy" for Cubans.

Can we list this place as a bad place to shop??? I mean, they post up all these pretty pictures, they chum the waters with the LFTH threads, they make it so easy to deal with.....

My wallet and my wife hates them. So they must be bad!!! :innocent::devil2:

And by the way....

Rob, it's spelt "douchebag".

You've got to make sure you get it printed correctly, if you still plan on putting it on the back of Ken's jersey for this fall's Sealbasher Olympics. :stir:

I doubt anyone here shops at Czar exclusively, but good for them if they do. Learning the codes of the box you will be receiving and who stands behind the quality and delivery- aren't usually worth saving a few bucks. Now, there was, until a few weeks ago, a definite price difference between a few reputable dealers, but that gap has closed up to within about $5 or less per box- an amount not even worth considering. As far as customer service and integrity, this is a great place to be. Nothing like seeing a picture of your exact box before deciding to buy it. Nothing like people who will openly tell you not to buy a certain cigar they have in stock this month because the quality is poor. Several times I have tried to buy cigars here and have been told to the effect "You don't want to buy those from us right now." How can you beat that? And, best of all the guarantees made here are real. I have had to have items re-shipped a couple times and there were no questions asked or doubt cast. Hope this helps you out...

Hello CanadianKodiak,

You can spend a lot of time searching the web and playing cigar roulette, or you can just PM Rob and let him know what type of Cuban cigar you are interested in. Most of the reputable Cuban cigar sellers on-line are all in the same price range as Rob anyway. The difference is that Rob actually opens and checks each box of cigars and only sells those boxes he deems to be of good construction and aroma, and that is at the entry PE level. You can always spend more on the HQ and PSP if money is not an issue. The other dealers just take what ever box is next off the shelf. So the question becomes, what is your piece of mind worth to you? I think getting Rob's years of Cuban cigar experience is to be had for a gift.

Thank you and good luck with your Cuban cigar quest,

Curtiss

Pretty sure this sums of the sentiment of every member here. No reason to go elsewhere.

This is how Rob earned my business for two years now.

I wholeheartedly agree!! You want to stay well clear of this place, especially the LFTH posts!! :hand: How can you trust a drunken pirate of dubious taste, who's only goal is to empty your wallet and fill your humidor with potentially life threatening (albeit very tasty) Cuban tobacco?

.

..

...

Okay gents, that's one less person to compete with in LFTH. You can thank me later... :lol3:

I get 99% of my Cuban's from rob simply the best prices and best service i have ever seen online

Well said Nick, great service by Rob and everyone at czar and great prices. I've been very satisfied with all my purchases

I'm just waiting for my first purchase to get here (from rob). If the quality is what everyone is claiming it to be, I foresee using CC for most, if not all my future purchases.

On my third purchase from Czar 99/100 on all levels the -1 is for not delivering them to me with a glass of scotch and a beautiful girl.

Do you put the least expensive tires on your car?

Why would you put lesser quality cigars in your mouth?

Buy some sticks from the Czar and put away all stress and worry about their quality or if your getting gray market BS, or fakes or whatever. Get quality and a peace of mind!

FYI -I wouldn't walk into a Steakhouse and ask the owner and his patrons where I could go find some McDonald's.

(bad form)

As mentioned already there are very few quality retailers, and the price gap has decreased anyway. Comparing quality retailers to grey market "duty free" charlatans is not comparing apples to apples. PM Rob and he will set you up with what you like. Most don't order through the website anyway, also the site never reflects their full stock. Most order through here and via email, just like you would at the mom n' pop store down the street that you've trusted for years.

I've dipped my toes here and there but I can't beat the service at the Czar. Rob stand behinds his product because he's handpicked it. Have an order list? Rob will find what you need. It comes down to trust for me. I know that my orders will be filled and shipped and any issues taken care of. They're batting. 1000 for me. Plus the locker is a great way to age choice stock and keep your mitts off them..

I can assure you Rob is one of the cheapest online sources and more than that REPUTABLE...

I don't mind paying Rob a dollar or so more per cigar for his expert eye and customer service. To be blunt I want to support Czar and FOH by given them my business as much as possible. I totally understand the drive to save cash when you can, but after buying from 3-5 retailers over the last few years the cigars from Czar have been quite a bit better in quality than most.

Do yourself a favor and order from Rob by e-mailing the team. You won't be disappointed.

Thanks for all the advice folks. Rob has a pretty good rep in the business and I took the liberty to send him a PM regarding ordering. I'm on vacation for a month-ish in Costa Rica starting next week but as soon as I get back I will be placing an order for sure. Hell, I'll probably be placing one before I get back so my yummy smokes will already be on the way when I land back in Canada.
