riazp Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 As a Chelsea supporter, we are f'ked...we need to win the CL final in order to be in it next year...and I know anything can happen yaddy yaddy yadda but I highly doubt that Chelsea will be able to pull out an upset vs Bayern...Ugh...I guess next year Chelsea will be able to concentrate on winning the Premiership. I sure as hell hope the keep Di Matteo as skipper
Mr.T Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Congrats to Man City and their fans! An incredible finish to the season. As a Liverpool supporter it was a season to forget. How Macini did not get manager of the year I don't know. Yes, Newcastle were a very much improved side under Pardew, but for me Macini is deserving of this award for winning the title and holding together such a volatile and talented team.
Ken Gargett Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 for what it is worth, here is one view of the top team of the year - not mine but might be of interest. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1182319-english-premier-league-picking-best-xi-from-2011-12-season?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=world-football

Apparently, Dalgleish is in talks with Liverpools' American owners....will he survive? Newcastle were expected to go back down again....and with good selling, prudent spending, tactical nouse, and real commitment, they were challenging for 3rd/4th. Sadly it's an easier job when you have a bottomless pit of money to play with, so the job done by Pardew was (for me anyway) a greater achievement. Newcastle played some lovely football too. The first goal HERE is excellent, the second must be goal of the season...wonder goal.
CaptainQuintero Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 for what it is worth, here is one view of the top team of the year - not mine but might be of interest. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1182319-english-premier-league-picking-best-xi-from-2011-12-season?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=world-football I remember when I used to use the 'pin the tail on the donkey' method of picking teams! Vorm, Krul, Hart and Fridel have had fantastic seasons. Cech's could be described as steady at best!
khomeinist Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Newcastle. No thanks. Come on you Spurs. Go Bayern!!
LLC Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 I had the picture in picture going on the TV and was watching both games at the same time. What a crazy finish, I've never seen anything like it.
mazolaman Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Newcastle. No thanks. Come on you Spurs. Go Bayern!! Is that not goal of the season? Spurs...no, not really. I hope they get into Europe....to be beaten by Racing Lichtenstein..... Bayern, ok, but Robben, don't look at him, he'll fall over. In fact, if he and Drogba run somewhere near to each other, they may go sprawling with serious injuries....
mazolaman Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 BTW....as soon as Tevez leaves our shores, and stops sponging off us, the better. Can't understand how such a horrible little fool is paid so much, when he obviously doesn't like it here. His latest stunt is pretty horrible. These guys ruin football, by their lack of sportsmanship.
Mr.T Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 All very good points about Pardew. I'm happy for the guy. I think Dagliesh will survive. Maybe he'll fly coach instead of business class. We already let go the guy who went and spent ridiculous (way overpriced) amounts of money on Henderson and Carrol. I think the owners will tell him that if we don't get a top 5 position next year, then thanks very much. I grew up watching King Kenny along with Barnes, Molby, Beardsley, Rush, McMahon etc, but I think Kenny was too apologetic for our less than stellar performances throughout the season. I hope we can turn it around in the off season, otherwise it's going to be another long season.

I sure as hell hope the keep Di Matteo as skipper As a Bayern supporter I think I'm as nervous about the CL outcome as you are, especially after the drubbing we took in the DFB cup last Saturday. Hopefully with both teams being reduced by that stupid yellow card rule, and home field advantage, the good guys in red will finally win some silverware this season!
Mr. Japan Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Mancio is a great manager, he proved that already in Italy when he bringer Inter Milan to victory after 17 years. I think Fergusson is been paid with same money he used in the Champions Final League several years ago. Who remembers?
CaptainQuintero Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Fergie has the funds available if he wants someone Berbatov - £30m De Gea - £17m Smalling - £17m Jones - £20m Hopefully Bayern win, they shouldn't find it that hard with half of Chelsea out injured/suspended.
Habanos2000 Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Hopefully Bayern win, they shouldn't find it that hard with half of Chelsea out injured/suspended. Yes, hopefully. Unfortunately Bayern are missing 3 key players as well. Should be interesting.
riazp Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 so liverpool sack Kenny Daglish? that makes little to no sense to me... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/18085052
CaptainQuintero Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Makes plenty of sense to me: -Spent £200m on terrible players. Only Suarez could be called a good buy if you ignore his bursts of racism and cheating -Defended Suarez during the racist abuse case -Made his team parade about in 'we support racism' t-shirts -Finished below Everton -Didn't qualify for Europe -Worst league finish for a long time -Laughing stock during TV interviews -Boring 'Houlier' style of football As a manager I'd give him a /10
mazolaman Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 so liverpool sack Kenny Daglish? that makes little to no sense to me... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/18085052 No, I'd have thought they'd give him another year. The owners were possibly appeasing the fans clamor for Kenny, then waiting for the first opportunity to bin him... It's all business, that's all.
khomeinist Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Is that not goal of the season? Spurs...no, not really. I hope they get into Europe....to be beaten by Racing Lichtenstein..... Bayern, ok, but Robben, don't look at him, he'll fall over. In fact, if he and Drogba run somewhere near to each other, they may go sprawling with serious injuries.... Clearly this is the goal of the season.... http://deadspin.com/5896153/peter-crouch-just-scored-the-goal-of-the-year-in-english-soccer
Ken Gargett Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 crouch goal a stunner but i thought that this one from cisse just pipped it. be happy with either tho. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmn00WMDLxA
khomeinist Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Umm. It is Peter Crouch guys. Peter Crouch.... That makes it absolutely STUNNING Yes the Cisse goal is nice.... but lanky Crouch showing such touch? That is divine intervention..... (if one believes in such things)
mazolaman Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Clearly this is the goal of the season.... http://deadspin.com/5896153/peter-crouch-just-scored-the-goal-of-the-year-in-english-soccer Close, but no cigar. Crouch is actually a good touch player, but not great in the air. I'd stick with my choice of Cisse's second goal against chelsea....stunner.
khomeinist Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 As a Spurs fan, the idea that Crouch is a good touch player is sorta baffling. But whatever. Two fine strikes. Go Bayern.
riazp Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Watching Crouch is like watching a Twig play football...
mazolaman Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 As a Spurs fan, the idea that Crouch is a good touch player is sorta baffling. But whatever. Two fine strikes. Go Bayern. Yeah, he's no Lionel Messi... He tends to get used as the big man up front, whereas I personally don't think he's that great in the air, but he does have good touch and control. Yep two great goals, dunno which will win, but one of them will. May the bet team win.
