Reading the few recent topics about LE/RE , i was searching for what has been the best LE - but couldnt find any such topic, theres one on which is the worst :)

So i was wondering, particularly those who have been smoking for a few years now, which LE , in your experience, has been the best? Not discussing RE as its not necessarily available everywhere, so lets only restrict ourselves to LE. My experience is too little, so i cant say much - lets hear from people who have been at it for 5 years or more maybe.

I have a fair amount of experience with 2010. The Monte GE's overall, on a scale of good/great/excellent, would rank as great. Every box I have sampled has 1-3 excellent sticks that will blow your mind. The Partagas 2010 would rank as good, with the excellent sticks being harder to come by. I have not smoked the Trinidad, but they have been pretty widely panned as being too short to really enjoy them fully. That being said there is talk they may be coming into their own and smoking really well right now. If you like the Petit Edmundo sized cigars and are willing to pay a super premium for the Trini more power to you. I have not smoked any 2011's, but hear the Ramon Allones and Cohiba are both fantastic.

My Top 5 in no order either:

RACF Asia Pacific RE 2009

Cohiba 2006 Piramides.

Monte GE 2010

RyJ Dukes 2009 (changed from Monte Sublimes. I've had more Dukes than Sublimes)

Punch Super Robusto Asia Pacific 2006

Jumped straight in there with the REs eh, LEs only says the topic starter :)

Personally I find it tough to pick between the Monte GE and Sublimes for no1, bit unfair as the Sublimes has a couple more years, and given that I reckon the GE edges it for me.

And the Monte C from 03 was amazing, well, when I had one after 8 years anyway, but I reckon we see a theme here!

From '10 I haven't tried the Party yet but the Monte is as said, and the Trini, being fair is a good smoke, but also being fair is a stupid size at a stupider price...

The recent Hoyo '11 is a good, but not great smoke. Not tried, and unlikely to, the 1966. And the Ra is a likely box in the future, c'mon, it's RA!

Ok, having to pick 1, I'd go for the GE at the moment, amazing now and I think as much or more potential than the sublimes, my 2 cents :)

Really? I have smoked 3 (from 2 different sources) in the past couple years and every single one has been bland, bland and blander....

I'm not surprised. Mine were already bland in 2006/2007, while they were delicious in 2004/2005.

For some reason some part of the production of this cigar has not aged well…

What? What?? FTR 20% of his selections were not Cohiba.:lol: On a more serious note: Art, do you not have any 2006 Piramides or do you not like them?

I've only tried one 2006 Cohiba Piramide a few years ago so I don't have real opinion on them. They are on my buy list however, other cigars get priority as I have a full box of 2001 Cohiba Piramides that I have just cracked.

Being a self proclaimed Cohiba maniac, I will naturally gravitate to them. I will say that I think the 2001 Piramides are fantastic. If the 2006s are like these ones, they are worth buying.

My top 5 in no particular order

Cohiba EL 2001 Piramides

Cohiba EL 2003 Double Corona

Cohiba EL 2004 Sublime

Cohiba EL 2011 1966

Montecristo EL 2008 Sublime

I agree with all of these and add:

Cohiba 2000 millineum Piramides (ceramic jar)

Also watch out for the H. Upmann Royal Robusto. They are delicious but young.

2001 Cohiba EL Pyramide

2003 Reserva Selection

2006 Cohiba EL Pyramide

For true LEs (not LCDH releases, REs, or Reservas), my list is rather short:

1) Monte Sublimes LE 2008

1a) RAE LE 2011

3) Monte GE LE 2010

I did not really like much any of the other LEs I have tried yet, to be honest. Especially none of the RyJ and Partagas LEs have done anything for me. Got some Trini Ingenios incoming and have a box of HDM Regalos that I still need to crack after its rest from shipping.

Totally different. But still worth buying.

IMHO:

2001 = mushroom.

2006 = espresso.

Or at least they used to be. Haven't smoked one in years. They hinted that they could develop similar to the '04 Sublima, which would be tremendous.

Yes, I agree they were better early on....haven't had an EL since that was as good as when the Hoyo was a newer release....
