I hear most about bigger name cc's on this forum. Partagas, Montecristo, Cohiba, etc...

What are your impressions of what's coming out recently from Cuaba, Diplomaticos, El Rey Del Mundo, Juan Lopez, Por Larranaga, San Christobal, Sancho Panza, Saint Luis Rey, and Vegas RobaiIna?

Hello,

I personally am a big fan of Juan Lopez 1 and 2. They have a wonderful flavor profile which I like.

Thanks,

Curtiss

JL 1s and 2s are fantastic. Dip 2s are a unique piramide, different than others I've had, but in a good way. Dip 4s and 5s are something special. ERDM Choix Supreme are phenomenal when they're on, the key is getting a good box. PLPCs are like caramel candy with enough age. SLR Regios and Series A are great when on. VR Unicos I hear have been spectacular as of late. San Cristobal El Principes are a great short smoke. The Sancho Panza are kind of hit and miss, great when you get a good box.

It really comes down to the quality of the box. There are duds in every marca.

I'm in the garage smoking my second JL1 from an HQ box I pulled out of the mail this morning - its fantastic! Love the JL2 as well. SCDLH Punta, Principe, and especially Mercaderes are among my favorite cigars. ERDM I've only had Demitasse and they have been solid. Personally I love exploring these lesser hyped marcas...so much great stuff without "premium" pricing.

Diplomatico's are some of my favorite cigars! Loving the JL 1's & 2's and ERDM's Choix's recently. I love love love The VR Unicos and Famoso, I put both VR and Diplo in my top 5 favorite marcas. All of these get discussed pretty frequently on this forum.

I'd echo a lot said.

I enjoy Cuaba, mainly distinguidos and divinos. Peanut tastey.

ERDM Choix can be brilliant.

Sancho have their own salty flavour, and can also be great.

San Christobal La punta are excellent.

AS mentioned above, plenty of really good cigars available, without the "added value" premium.

I just wish Por Larranaga, El Rey Del Mundo, Sancho Panza AND Ramon Allones either came in or were easier to find in Lonsdale size :o

Though most of my favorite Marcas are mainstream, there are certainly some gems in the lesser-known marcas. PLPC, VR Famoso, Dip #2, SCdlH el Principe, JL#2 are all top-notch cigars in my book. I'm still exploring all these marcas myself, and so there are quite a few that I haven't tried yet.

JL is like a halfway between Upmann and Partagas, with a bit of floral mixed in. ERDM is bright and citrusy with dark honey. SLR is quite good, with fruit, leather, bread, and some earthy and some herbal notes. Sancho Panza is very salty. San Cristobal El Principes are a must in everyone's rotation. Por Larranaga Petite Coronas are wonderful, and quite value priced. The regional brands offer a lot and you should work your way through them.
