isa Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 Some partagas serie du connoisseur no. 3 is available locally here in Delhi(from the India distributor) - i believe this is not manufactured any more. So i would like to get some to try, but some questions: 1. Does it have a good flavour profile? I prefer intense side of flavours with medium to full body. 2. I will be buying blind - are these worth buying blind or were they pretty inconsistent, in which case i will drop the idea - what has been your experience with this vitola? Please let me know , so that i can quickly procuse a box or drop the idea. Cheers.
Michel1968 Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 FWIW... I like them... a lot, and they do fit your prefered profile... - so If I was you I would buy some if not the box!
Omskakas Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 They're medium-full Partagas-spicy cigars with chocolate and cherries. I'd buy a box or two (if I already didn't have 2 boxes + some).
cottierm Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 This is a good investment as well. Moreover, if you don't like them, you'll be able to do some good trades! Best, Michel
isa Posted April 11, 2012 Author Posted April 11, 2012 Thanks guys - i think i am convinced - am going to buy a box BTW, am smoking a Boli RC - its sooo good. Cheers
Smallclub Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 2. I will be buying blind - are these worth buying blind or were they pretty inconsistent, In my experience the No.1 and No.2 were consistent, but the No.3 from the "bad years" (99 to 2001) could be really poorly constructed, just like his sister the Charlotte. Ask for the date code; if they are from 99/00/01, beware that you may end up with a bunch of plugged or tight cigars… As for the "intense side of flavours", yes they have it, when they draw…
Colt45 Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 These are (were) a personal favorite, and I do feel they have (had) an intense flavor delivery. Here's a discussion that may be of interest: Link

Ken Gargett Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 so apparently i enjoyed damascus. i must have just been because i agree with piggy. they were our "house" cigar on numerous trips to havana. i miss them.
isa Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 Just received the box The code says NNSU-VC-3 What does that mean?
Colt45 Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Just received the box The code says NNSU-VC-3 What does that mean? If I read correctly, November 1998 Villa Clara factory. I don't know what the last"3" stands for.
isa Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 Thanks Colt for deciphering that. Smoked one - it was completely plugged - didnt enjoy it at all
cottierm Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Too humid or truly bad construction? Best, Michel
Smallclub Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Smoked one - it was completely plugged - didnt enjoy it at all I have expressed my reservations about this blind purchase on an other cigar forum – if the vendor told you it's "2005 stock" he's either an ignoramus or a crook, or both…
isa Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 Dont know which is the issue - an too inexperienced I smoked one right after i received it - but it was just a local delivery - transit time of a couple of hours at most. Anyway, will give these 2 wks or so in the humidor before trying again.
isa Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 I have expressed my reservations about this blind purchase on an other cigar forum – if the vendor told you it's "2005 stock" he's either an ignoramus or a crook, or both… They are the official distributors in India. The guy who sold these is a new comer i think , he wasnt there earlier - so ignoramus is probably the right choice
isa Posted April 26, 2012 Author Posted April 26, 2012 Well, after the terrible experience of the first one, tried a second one today - have been sitting in my humidor for more than a week - couldnt resist Well, the draw was still very firm - but flavours were great - fruit, nut, some spice here & there, pepper on the lips. The fruity aspect was intense and rich. Whereas the flavour was intense, the body felt less than medium to me - may be the draw. But enjoyable overall.
