PartiDude Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Tough one for me (scarcastic look)...anything, um...PARTAGAS!!!
Zigatoh Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Size dependent seems to be a good way to go, so small to large (roughly speaking - didn't get them out to compare or anything ) - RASCC PSP1 BRC RA Superiores Monty 2 Lusitania Just a selection of some of the best in cuban flavours IMO EDIT - meant to squeeze the Boli GM in there too, probably between monty 2 and lusi?
TremontiSG Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Tough question, but I would give them a Punch Royal Coronation. Have yet to be disappointed in them, and the flavors out of them are absolutely astounding.
Cohiba007 Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 I think I would give him a cigar that has disappointed me the least over the past few years. Monte PE or mag 46
BobLobLaw Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 If he smokes stronger cigars a PSD4, otherwise a Mag 46. Perfect cigar size and great marca to show how much flavor can be in a cigar without it being super strong.
asudevil08 Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 An aged Partagas Lusitania. Preferably from '08-'09 if possible. That cigar can still make me weep with joy even after all these years.
finecigar Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 A classic, maybe a bolivar Coronas gigantes, Siglo VI, or PSD4... those three would be great entrances to cuban marca
jacktarnold Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 A cigar out of the same box that started me. A Cohiba Siglo II from 2006. I still have 5 out of that vary box that I bought in 2008. Not to over powering but a great smoke all around.
winelover Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Funny when the thread is about picking ONE cigar and so many people make a list! I agree with Piggy's sentiments re consistency and that is why you can't place too much reliance on single cigar samples etcm. I would say any petit corona and more specifically the BPC. Should be enough to make a very good introduction (and also not RG50+). G
DrunkenMonkey Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 There are a few, but first that comes to mind is the Partagas 898V. +1
jedipastor Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 My brother is coming to visit in a week. He typically only smokes cigars with me and another friend (so rarely), but he likes them. He's never had a CC, though. I think I'll start him on a BRC.
Wicky Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 well, If I knew he had a toned appreciation for the best of NCs,then I would offer an Estupendos. If he don't like that...he ain't breathin'.
Habanos2000 Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I just recently gifted a new NC cigar smoking friend an Upmann Mag 50 from 2009. He typically smokes Macanudo's. I hope he handles it OK! All in all so many Cubans are excellent currently, I don't think there are many that wouldn't impress.
ct4 Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 BHK 52..if not that a Bolivar Royal Corona or a Siglo 6 ..
headstand Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 My first thought was the 898v based on the assumption that we are dealing here with an experienced NC cigar smoker. Here is my list based on what various NC smokers might be looking for: 898v for the richness and strength (BBF and BPC could sub here) Siglo II for complexity Monte 2 (when on) just because they are so dammed good. JL #1 for flavor in a mild stick
ksblazer Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I usually gift whatever I have on hand. Bolivars usually seem to be a hit. So something like a Boli CJ, Royal Corona or BBF.
beamer Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 Everyone I have converted to Cuban cigars has started with a Bolivar PC on my porch or deck. Works every time.
Michel1968 Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 Trinidad Robusto Extra. For explaining to a NC smoker what evolution in taste, intensity and body is all about this would be my choice cigar... My love for them is fading but I consider them as one of the benchmark CC's
davidsan Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 I had this situation come up last week while visiting one of my contractors. He wanted an introduction to cigars. As luck would have it we were only a few minutes walk from one of our local retailers. I was in the mood for a Partagas Short and thought that a cigar of this size and ring gauge would serve as a good introduction to cigars. I think the flavors from a Partagas Short are a good introduction to cigar smoking.
MoneyPit Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 I handed out two HdM E#2s yesterday on the golf course. Mine was great and the two other guys playing with me remarked how much they enjoyed theirs too versus what they usually get at the local B&M.
