Rushman Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 On the heels of the discussion of the new Cohiba "security band", it got me wondering what the group thinks of the other bands and which one is their favorite. For me, the simplicity and I don't know, old world charm maybe of both the Trinidad and Diplomaticos bands are my favorite. It's not only the simple designs, but also the color combinations. What say you? --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=20.631760,-87.070631
Phillycyclocross Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Big fan of white so my fav has to be HdM bands. Just has a very classy regal look to it. But I also like the simple Sancho Panza band.
riazp Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 I really like the Ramon Allones bands, along with the Partagas bands and the diplomaticos bands as well.
Hemsworth Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Although some think it too flashy...I really like the Robainas band.
amosnaim Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 I like the cohiba; partagas; vintage style Ramon extra
Strada Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 I love older style bands: Thanks to Trevor and his ESSENTIAL website for the photos
CaptainQuintero Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 QDO appeals to me on a lot of levels. The old gold trinidad/RYJ were very classy too. Like Sancho Panza and Dip a lot also. Worst for me are every second band out there followed by Cuaba, Vegas R, San C, Cohiba, the new Upmann and new Trinidad. Basically most of the new bands I'm not a fan of, much prefered the old style Upmann, Monte, Trini etc.. IMO HSA should be going in their own direction, one that represents their history, not trying to copy gimmicky NC bands.
brazoseagle Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 I love the "Throwback" feel of the Ramon Allones Extra band. I also really like the Diplomatico band, both just have that traditional, old school feel. Good thread.
noreaster Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Throwback R n J Churchill....no need for the 2- band style of late.
mm12 Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 I like the old brown Upmann, old Cohiba (no gold), Por Larranaga, Montecristo, Diplomaticos and Sancho Panza. In general I dislike anything with multiple bands and any band that's overly fancy. I'm also not too crazy about the huge prevalence of the red/white/gold color scheme. Too many marcas have it. A couple are pretty good like La Flor de Cano and Partagas, but Punch/Upmann/SLR/RyJ/Juan Lopez all suck and look too generic. There's no character there.
Scdalak Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Tough to beat R & J, the Red and White with the Ebroidered Gold Coins really "pops". Very few changes have been made to this classic marca..
Pilgrims Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 RA Extra band and also Partagas especially the large one on "a" Culebras
chrismfontanot Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Love: QdO, HdM, Monte Not crazy about: RA, SLR
Diamondog Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Behike band easily also like the ra extra band for it being retro...also a fan of opus x bands
dvickery Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 i will take a cigar with no bands...thank you.the more bands the less i like. have to make a choix...gispert. derrek
Lotusguy Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 No bands - because it means the stick came from a pre-2005 cabinet
Scdalak Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Bolivar. There is nothing like seeing 12 Simon Bolivar faces lined up in their military uniforms and ready to serve their master when opening a nice dress box. You really like Yellow???
Hemsworth Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Bolivar. There is nothing like seeing 12 Simon Bolivar faces lined up in their military uniforms and ready to serve their master when opening a nice dress box. His face always creeped me out. The RC's that I have are brilliant, though.
Hemsworth Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Yeah, me too. Creepy for sure. Not even sure if it is a male or female face....lol Still cool imo. Great. Now every time that I open my humidor, Im going to have a tranny staring at me!
Scdalak Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Huh? It's a yellow band, you really like that color?
charlesod Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Older Cohiba. I like the yellow and black without the gold.
kmagurk Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Throwback R n J Churchill....no need for the 2- band style of late. I agree that single gold band was classy
