melies Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Is it just me? or is Habanos new business model is as crazy as they come? First it was the trinidad robusto T and the short robusto EL and now they do the same thing with Partagas and with no EL band that "justifies" the price. How can anybody buy a cigar that it has the same ring size, but it's a lot smaller and more expensive? and just for the record, I did try one of the D5's and found it a totally tastless an bland cigar in comparison to the worst D4! If their Ideology is "a smaller cigar for shorter smoke times" why not make it cheaper? I would rather toss out a D4 at the middle than pay more for a smaller and worst tasting cigar. Just my 2 cents.
capnshazam Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Maybe it's like special edition super cars, they take things out like the radio, and air conditioner then charge a lot more because they put GT on the end?

I have only smoked on D5, and I will say that I thought maybe I just got one that was too young (or too something...). Mine was kind of boring too, so thought maybe it was just that cigar...but maybe not, now that I read your experience.
CaptainQuintero Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 From my experience these short/petit robustos either come out swinging from the start (Epi, LFDC etc) or they never even put the gloves on. There doesn't seem to be much inbetween. The majority of people certainly seem to be saying they are the latter. They are young though so you never know how they will be with a big of age.
mk05 Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Trini short robo t, hdm short piramides, and partagas p1 have been nothing short of exceptional imo. I havent tries the boli petit beli, but was told they will age very well. Little shout out

Most of the new stuff don't make your mouth water like this one. Special.
Rushman Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Agreed in theory. Haven't smoked one yet. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=20.631716,-87.070622

Most of the new stuff don't make your mouth water like this one. Special. The Trini short is not a bad cigar, but not a great one. The Trinidad robusto T in the other hand is cheaper longer and exceptional. the HDM EL is great, and there is no other piramide in the HDM regular line, and I really love de partagas P1 and the Jar it comes from. And I think it's flavor profile doesn't have anything to do with the P2. Also the Jar justifies it's price. But the Partagas D5 is smaller, and doesn't even come close to the D4... and they want you to pay more for that? and not a little bit more in some cases you could buy a box of D4 and a 10 count for the price. Also how can anybody know how will they age?, they are new to the market (and they are not like the EL) you can speculate that they have potential but no one really knows for shure. well just my humble opinion...
canadianbeaver Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 This is not good news for me. I just bought a box of D5's in the last LFH. PTL let them be OK.

Just saying, that not all shorter version are doomed for failure. I prefer the HdM short piramides to the 2003 piramides. And yes! I agree, the P1 is soooo good. There's a reason why it's my avatar. And I don't even like Partagas...well except for the SdC's, and they're all gone now.
Ghabanos Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 They will probably discontinue the d4 and you'll hv no choice but to pay more for a short cigar
Hemsworth Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 They will probably discontinue the d4 and you'll hv no choice but to pay more for a short cigar Come on now! Don't talk like that!
