Hi,

some impressions of yesterdays Christmas Dinner of our "Cigar Cult Club" at Vollrads castle in the Rheingau wine area to which ca 50 members and friends attended.

This is our 10-th annual X-mas dinner and the fourth being celebrated at Vollrads so we consider it a tradition by now.

A German importer sponsored Ashton and other cigars plus a raffle.

I shared some interesting cigars from my recent Cuba trip with my friends, farm cigars from Hector Luis Prieto (Habano Man of the year 2008) and the reproduction/prototype of an old vitola, discontinued years ago, a slimmer Diadema-sized shape called Dulcinea that might be re-introduced again.

We closed the roasted goose dinner with "Cigarrignac" Brandy manufactured by a friend and winemaker in our wine region - it's a first class brandy, its aroma enhanced by us smoking good Habanos once a year and blowing the smoke into the barrel/vat, let it rest and then bottle it for the club.

That looks like a blast, Nino! That Dulcinea is an interesting looking cigar. Were you able to detect any cigar aromas in the brandy? Talk about a customized spirit.

A nice German social event.I wish I could've been there.

While the farm cigar was still a bit on the overhumidified side and strong, the Dulcinea was a very creamy, well rounded and very tasty 3h smoke, it is a very elegant size, had perfect draw and burn and we agreed it would be a pity if it wouln't be re-installed ( in normal, RE or LE issue ).

The brandy is indeed "customized" as the bottle also bears the name and logo of the Cigar Cult Club. It is a very fine brandy and certainly has smoky undertones ... but I can't find any of my Ramon Allones Gigantes in it :-)

This is the producer, a member of the club : http://www.dalbergerhof.de/index.html

Price btw is 59 € which is very good for the quality - yesterday's 2 bottles were "on the club"

Looks like a hard life, Nino...

Yes, tough indeed, which is why I retired, so I would have more time to suffer ... :-))

Here's some more activities of the club - a really fantastic event was the 10 hour Rhine river cruise up to the Loreley rock this summer on a chartered ship with cigars, buffet dinner and great fun for all the 80 persons attending ( among them friends from all over Europe as usual ).

I wonder if we are even allowed to have a cigar club that can lawfully smoke indoors in the UK. Good for you and your companions Nino! Looks like you had a great time and good to see some lady members too.

I was just thinking the same thing Rob.

Perhaps we should dress up next time, tuxedo's on the roof perhaps. :daydream:

My thoughts exactly ...

No offence Elie, but isn't that a bit of the pot calling the kettle black? :P

For each of our club meetings, you've always been in jeans and a t-shirt! :nyah: Albeit, they have been better than some of Rob's shirts... :surprised:
