Cohiba Stevie Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Ok, so today was officially my first day back at work after being off for two weeks and visiting Cuba, it was a bad day with a few arguments with a lot of things going wrong in my absence, all just waiting on me when I walked in the door. Anyway I hate to take work home with so when I got in i opened a cold bottle of peroni and lit up a RASCC from a box I got in Cuba... Well the cigar was fine, perfect in fact, but I just couldn't enjoy it and had to pitch it. Just being annoyed at other people made me lose focus and it kept going out because I was talking so long between puffs. This is really unlike me but thats what happened. Im not an uptight guy at all but work just really got to me today. Ah well life goes on. Anybody else ever experience this?
Styler Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Interesting, I normally have the opposite experience, concentrating on the cigar helps me set my worries aside. I suppose there are limits though, some problems are too big or get you too wound up to forget.
LLC Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 If I am upset I won't enjoy a cigar as it won't relax me but if I am in a normal state it will relax me and if I'm already relaxed then it's a perfect time to really enjoy a good cigar.

I suppose there are limits though, some problems are too big or get you too wound up to forget. I'm like this too. The end of the work day cigar is my way to blow off stress (and the drink choice is sometimes based on how much stress needs to go). Last week was all about personnel problems at work and several large blowups I had to deal with. The highlight of each day was ending it by enjoying a good cigar (and a bourbon) out on the deck. It didn't solve my problems, just let me unwind and decompress a little.
Ginseng Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 A cigar is a great stress reliever...if I'm in the mood to be relieved. Sometimes I just want to simmer in the funk for a bit. Then I light up. Wilkey
nick17 Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 I have had the angry smoke i once was on the phone yelling at some one for over an hour i started the phone call 5 min after lighting up a Churchill and i smoked it in about 30min and it was just bad because i smoked it so fast smoking while angry is a big no go
riazp Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 I dont smoke angry, I drink Angry. If the mood is not right, I wont smoke a cigar...but i'll drink alot though
Cohiba Stevie Posted November 22, 2011 Author Posted November 22, 2011 I dont smoke angry, I drink Angry. If the mood is not right, I wont smoke a cigar...but i'll drink alot though My thoughts exactly, cigars should be smoked in a state of bliss
tdlfoto Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 i wouldn't fire up. once i answered a phone call from a client and had a shitty conversation which killed the vibe. now i dont answer the phone during me time.
El Presidente Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Let me count the ways!!!!!!! I am old enough and ugly enough to buy time when I am peeved. Time ....an hour is about enough....to grab a cigar and a drink, a pen and paper....look at my response options. The cigar is almost always a Bolivar Petit Corona in these situations. The drink is always a rum which I can sip on slowly. A cigar always clears my thoughts. Then I get Lisa's opinion

Once I light up or start up, the world is forgotten. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=20.631788,-87.070558
Michel1968 Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Ah, the nasty moments. It's coffee and cigarettes for me, knowing that a cigar and/or an alcoholic drink will taste very good once matters are solved. Too bad it can take days or even weeks before that moment arrives...
Stalebread Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Smoking a cigar has often helped me get some distance on a problem or a bad mood. Helps me re-gain some balance. Some perspective. On the other hand, when I think I need a drink, I don't. .
Ken Gargett Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 smoking while pissed off? are you kidding? how many good cigars have i wasted by smoking them while the useless wallabies or gunners or lions or skins or... have been playing!!
benjaminbbush Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Then I get Lisa's opinion No offense El Presidente, but that might be the smartest thing I am going to hear/read/see today!
thechenman Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 I'm one of those cigar smokers who only smokes when in a good mood. If not...I just can't enjoy the cigar. If I can't enjoy it, why bother lighting one up.
