Rushman Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 While sitting on the stoop of our store, finishing up my evening smoke (HdM Epi 2) A guy walked by. Earlier during the first 3rd he had walked by and looked at me and motioned as if to say "hey that looks nice". Upon his return, he said "that's bad for you". Got me to thinking. If Ken and most of the responses to his post supported his decision not to educate the cowboy hat wearing guy thinking he was smoking a cohiba Dbl Corona, why does this guy feel compelled to say that. I'd bet that if you hooked me up to a blood pressure machine, my BP would be real low. I think the stress relieving aspects of smoking and the friendships you make as a result vastly outweigh any negative health issues. Thoughts ???
First Lady Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 I would have said that if he didn't keep walking and mind his own business that would be bad for him Honestly no one asked his opinion so buzz off
Fuzz Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Opinions are very much like @$$holes. Everyone has one, but we should all be old enough and wise enough to know that not everyone wants to see our @$$hole. There are so many things in this world that are bad for you, but in my mind, cigars are pretty low down on the list. If we were to abstain from all the things that were bad for us, we would be... well, I don't know what we'd be, but I do know that we wouldn't be very happy!
riazp Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Meh, thats my opinion. When i'm smoking a cigar alone, i'm zoned out, had he said that to me I probably would have smiled and noded politely just because I'd be in my own world...Lesson learned Rushman, a Ipod is your best friend when smoking alone
TonyV Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 I would have said: thanks for sharing,i'll try to remember that tomorrow before lighting up.

Good idea though!
Habanos2000 Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 I'd say he just doesn't know what he's missing. He's taking the cigar at a face value, which is "smoking is bad for your health". He doesn't see the opposite benefits that I, at least, feel a cigar offers. Tranquility, rest, contemplation, enjoyment of life.
CaptainQuintero Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 I don't know if it's true (Probably not) but I heard a story from a friend about a guy (Yes it's one of those) who was sat smoking a cigar on a park bench and the same thing happened to him, his response to the guy questioning his smoking was "My wife just died, give me a break" at which point the self-righteous guy's face dropped, the blood drained from his face and he stammered an apology then shuffled away with his head down, hands in his pockets and back stooped. The guy finished his cigar then went home and put the dinner in the oven for when his Wife came home from work Now the point at which I detected it may be an urban myth is this part: "...then went home and put the dinner in the oven for when his Wife came home"
Guest leanderdsilva Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 The Guy : That's bad for you. Rushman: My grandma lived to be 105. The Guy: Smoking cigars?? Rushman: Minding her own damn business.

Warren Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 I wonder how many McDonalds drive throughs he went through on his way to telling you your cigar was bad for you.
Warren Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 I hadn't read Clints post before I posted. I guess great minds think alike.
kmagurk Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 when George Burns was asked " what does your doctor think of you smoking cigars " he said " he's dead "
KarlJ Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 I've found that a lot of the population lack many things... Common sense Common courtesy Common knowledge And some, god help them, are just outright dumb My first instinct would be to tell the guy to go pound sand but I try not to argue with idiots
scinmyheart Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 that is simply my "F You, no one asked the peanut gallery" comment...
cigaraholic Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 I'd just smile and tell him " I'm a bad man ".
Manny Sotelo Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 when George Burns was asked " what does your doctor think of you smoking cigars " he said " he's dead " I watched an old interview of George Burns and he said that he out lived 3 of his docters... Ironicly one died of cancer and never smoked, go figure....
Manny Sotelo Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 I would have said that if he didn't keep walking and mind his own business that would be bad for him Honestly no one asked his opinion so buzz off I would have said " You know what's bad for your health, My foot up your ass! so kick rocks dude" ...man, for some reason I've been getting more and more violent....
cigcars Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 To that statement about "It's bad for your health," I would quickly reply, "So is candy and booze and too many Big Macs..."
Guest rob Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 I sarcastically say "youre a true samaratin, Sir - looking out for my best interests when there is absolutley nothing in it for you. Thank you"!
