I was thinking of planning a long weekend getaway with my wife to either of two cities in Canada before the end of the year. They are either Montreal or Toronto. I've heard many great things of Montreal from friends who've been there. But, I don't know much about Toronto. I do know it's a nice city worthy of visiting. Any suggestions? Of course you don't have to be Canadian to answer...lol

Oh one small detail I forgot to mention. No La Casa Del Habano in Montreal! and I need to be near Cuban cigars!!!! Lol!

Thanks!

Whats wrong with LCDH montreal? great place to buy cubans, yeah the prices are through the roof, but its like that everywhere in canada. Plus in montreal you have the added bonus of smoking indoors. If you want a place where you can bring your own smokes, stogies or whiskey cafe are your places of choice, whiskey cafe is a bit cheaper on booze than stogies but has a 10$ cut fee. LCDH is cheaper on booze than those two places, but you have to buy a cigar from them. so in the end it all works out to the same.

I'll be honest, I didnt know there was a LCDH in Montreal. I checked the LCDH website and it only showed a store in toronto in that part of canada. That's great to know! Also, I love the fact that you can smoke indoors, although my wife might not... Lol! I was kind of leaning toward Montreal to begin with. Now that I know I can get my hands on cubans, it's the front runner. (still like to hear opinions on Toronto). Thanks for the suggestion riazp!

Dino, there are lots of shops in montreal where you can buy cubans but be prepared to pay $$$ for them...and the best place to buy them in downtown montreal is the LCDH, they have a beautiful walk in humi, prices are very good, and the cigars are stored in peak condition.

If you're coming in the fall/winter then go to Montreal. At least there are places to smoke indoors. Toronto is great for the summer months. Lots of patios and cigar friendly places. But as much as it pains me to say it. Go to Montreal.

Sounds great! I would probably only trust going to a LCDH anyway. I plan on picking up a few boxes while I'm there. Thanks for the info!

We haven't pinned down a date. But, were thinking either sometime in Dec or Jan. We are driving in so hopefully the snow won't pile up. Lol, I appreciate your honesty. I know it must be difficult to give in...lol. Looks like Montreal is running way with it.

During winter months, like Frank said, Montreal is the place to be if your here to enjoy ome smokes.

Drop us a line when your in town, we'll try to get a group out for a smoke.

Sounds great! As soon as I figure out our plans I will let you guys know.

Bring your platinum card if your planning on buying "a few boxes" at retail...lol

Lol! Well, I figured I might be able to pick up some sticks that are more difficult to buy elsewhere. Like some Monte Sublimes LE

I'd love to try some Sublimes also. I've never had one. But I would be afraid of what prices would be at the LCDH. Best guess would be between $40-$50 per cigar. Possibly more.

You're probably right. But, if I told you what Ive paid for CC here you would think I'm crazy. Thank god for czar!! But, I don't mind paying more if I can get my hands on those up there. Unless of course czar can manage to find some

I agree. Summer I'd say Toronto but if you want to enjoy some cigars in winter I'd head to Montreal. It is. Great city and can't beat smoking indoors in the winter.

Montreal, hands down. Side trip to Quebec City time permitting.

And I'm from the Toronto area.

Agreed completely with all points. I'm a big T.O. fan, especially as a southwestern Ontario boy, but Montreal takes the cake in this contest.

And hey, if you decide Montreal, why not make it for the weekend that we're looking at doing the big herf in January???

Any brethren, especially you crazy Yanks, are more than welcome to come on up for it (except for Piggy - that boy's just TOO crazy for us! :nosmilies: )

;):P

Montreal between the two for sure.

My question is what's wrong with the west coast? Vancover's nice...

And I have to mention Calgary too...

But I have a special place in my heart for Montreal. Good Luck as winters can be cold as hell... But you'll love the city... None other like it

I vote for Montreal. You can smoke inside at certain places, Stogies is not too far from LCDH and you can bring your own cigars (no cutting fee  at Stogies) Don't get me wrong I really like going to Toronto as well, both are great cities and I don't think you can go wrong either way.

Probably nothing wrong with the West coast and Calgary, but instead of a 6 hour drive, it would be a 106 hour drive...lol

Good idea to come the weekend of January 21 if you can. Thats the big Winter smoke-a-thon.

Exactly lol! Not sure on the date yet. But, I will certainly keep that in mind. Thanks!

I would love to be there for the HERF. I'll keep you guys posted. I was actually hoping to get up there in late November or early December. But, we'll see.

Toronto is a little less than an hour away from my house, and since familiarity breeds contempt, Montreal gets my vote. I highly recommend visiting the Bio-Dome in Montreal. It really is a top notch facility, and I promise that neither Pauly Shore, nor Stephen Baldwin will be there.....

Cheers,

Ryan

Thank you everyone! I appreciate all your input and advice. Looks like Montreal is the clear winner. Now, I just have to pin down a date and start my research on accommodations and activities.

Happy smokes!
