El Presidente Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 How would you answer this question? Dip 4 immediately comes to mind for me but that will be a hard find. I am trying to find a cigar that has the flavours of sweet and sour? I like a sweet and sour curry and was wondering if there was a cigar that combined sweet and sour flavours?

Unless Kantong are coming out with a cigar range, I wouldn't have a bloody clue. Personally, I've never come across a cigar that was both sweet and sour.
mm12 Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 All you have to do is find a traditionally sweet cigar with an unusually bad looking wrapper.
dicko Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 I think bolivars have a sweet and sour aspect. Got that bolivar tang/citrus with some vanilla cream sweetness. my 2c
laficion Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 For me, It's the El Rey del Mundo brand. Plenty of sweet & sour in the vitolas.
TheLaird Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Hi Everyone, Thank you to Rob for posting this question for me. The cigar doesn't have to be sour as well. It can just be sweet and spicy and full of fruit/citrus flavours, along with chocolate flavours. (If all this is possible??? ) Not too keen on strong black/white pepper flavours though. I hope that someone can point me in the right direction? Till next time... The Laird
Smallclub Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Aged/vintage Diplomaticos taste sweet and sour to me, good luck to find them!
nubchin Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Any vitola but especially DC from San Luis Rey , or Upmann Mag46 Mag50 ? For me fruits cinnamon = those two brands . Not sure about the choco part though , maybe Boli RC . If NC , Alonso Menendez Robusto or No30 from Brasil , pure chocolate citrus . If you find out let us know too . Chears

(If all this is possible??? I think RASS fits this description almost perfectly. I don't know if they're still around, but RyJ Escudos (2007 EL) have this sort of flavor profile as well. You might enjoy the LGC Medaille D'or series(not as much chocolate in these, but you might sometimes pick up a hint). SLR Regios have a sweet/spicy/fruit flavor without any chocolate. Bolivar Coronas Gigantes have a sweet/spicy/chocolate flavor without any fruit. H. Upmann Connoisseur no. 1's also have the sweet/spicy/chocolate thing going on.
nick17 Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 young PSD4's they have a nice tartness to them as does the E2 as for chocolate i would go for the monty 2 or the party 898
goalie204 Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 I find PL PCs to be sweet, for sour..try dipping in vinegar before lightning.
CaptainQuintero Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Call me mad but I find siglo IV to be sweet and sour. Sure they have that sweetness but to me it's almsot like a sour honey. Not unpleasant but there is that tangy hit that comes with the sweetness, especially when I hit the middle of the cigars. Almost like marmalade sometimes.

Habanos2000 Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 The closest I've had to "sweet" cigars have been Cohiba. Sig VI and Esplendidos. Obviously not "sweet" sweet, but kind of milky sweet. I'm happy to say I've not experienced any sour cigars. That's not a flavor profile I'd be chasing.
mbrody Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 For me, It's the El Rey del Mundo brand. Plenty of sweet & sour in the vitolas. Gotta go with Guy on this. Smoked a Lunch Club from Chenman the other night, and sweet/sour come to mind...
Ginseng Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Gotta go with Guy on this. Smoked a Lunch Club from Chenman the other night, and sweet/sour come to mind... Helluva coincidence. I smoked a Lunch Club yesterday and noted that it was tangy and pungent with a touch out sweetness. But certainly not like in a "sweet and sour pork" kind of way. Wilkey
Orion21 Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Easy solution... Pick your favorite Cuban and wrap a Sour Patch Kids candy around it. Combustion may be an issue, but you will get the desired flavors
nubchin Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Then be prepared to see most of the 200+ habanos listed in this thread… ghahaha true in some ways
Mr.T Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 I've always thought that the RA Estupendos I have give off some sweet curry flavor.
Van55 Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 If you want sweet and sour go to a Chinese restaurant. Maybe dip your cigar in the soup. I don't get sweet and sour from any cigar I have smoked.

jedipastor Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 I usually consider "sour" to be a negative thing in cigars. Though I do like citrus, which I guess could be called sour by some.
