ok so a little update guys,

Things are looking very good participation wise, when its all said and done its looking like a very good turnout.

As for the venue, i've contacted the sales manager at Restaurant Queue de Cheval regarding information on pricing for a group of people, I have learned that they can do a fixed price menu for a group of people, in a private dining room. They have a cigar lounge in the restaurant, the hostess told me when I called that it could fit about 25-30 people at the most so I also asked the sales manager the possibilities of reserving the room for us. If he cannot reserve the smoking room or prices are too high, then its looking like Rubens for dinner and Stogies where we would have a room reserved for us.

As soon as I have information from the steak house, i'll let you guys know and we can vote on if we want to go depending on the pricing.

Cheers,

Riaz

Don't know how big the private room is at Stogies or if they would even let us do this, but what if we had a caterer come there so we could eat and smoke in the same place ?

I'll be in. I remember from messages from you, Riaz and Frank, that the 21st was the date in mind. I've got it in my calendar, and it looks to work, except for one small detail.....

It hasn't really been discussed on here much, but my Mrs. and I are expecting our 2nd. We're due for February 14th. Now, with Mini-Me, he came along and was born exactly two weeks early. So, the Mrs. is a bit anticipatory for anything from January 14th on. So....it may take a bit of convincing for me/us to be there.

I would want it to be a weekend for both of us (I wouldn't want to take that weekend away from her). But she's already saying that she doesn't want to be away from home, and from her home hospital here, from the 8th month onwards.

So, I will say yes, and am trying 110% to get my wife on board to come also. Absolute worst case scenario, if I did come alone (I don't plan on missing it, as much as I'd hate to come alone), it would likely cost me ten-fold in flowers what any bar tab would be that I could ring up!

So between 28 and 30 BOTLs, that's great ! How many people can the third floor room at Stogies accommodate ? The more the merrier !

Frank, that's a freakin' awesome idea! I was initially just thinking about a car pool (I'd offer my truck for that at least) - we could fit 5 to a vehicle, split the fuel costs, etc., etc. But the train would be a great way also - one heck of a nice view on that section of line, and it's a great chance to get some 4-group seat sections on that train and have some great BOTL conversations to catch up. A nice atmosphere to be had for brother-dom on the train!

I do very much like that, and would agree to do it that way if that's what the general choice is. But, if cost is a factor, I'd again volunteer to drive my truck up (same travel timeline, and about $160 in gas, total for both ways), and would fit 5 with lots of luggage room in the tonneau-covered box.

But, I'm game to take the train. Sounds fun.

A big thing would also depend on the scheduled times for the train on both the Friday and the Sunday.

And, all that said....

For both the train options, but especially with the hotels - don't forget, guys, that I have the magic discount card. Especially with booking hotel rooms (I think only up to 2 rooms, connected), I can get some mad discounts with my CF ID. I can't exactly remember where Stogie's and other places are exactly, but I have stayed a fair bit at the Days Inn on Rene Levesque Blvd., and got some decent rates there for really quite nice double queen-bed rooms. Also, not sure if there's a Hyatt in the Montreal core, but I really liked the Park Hyatt in Toronto, and I get a HUGE discount with that chain (as well as a rewards card now, too).

Just some other thoughts.
