It seems like plenty of software options. But where do I find the time to enter all the data from all the boxes of cigars I've bought over the years. Makes me tired just thinking about it.

It is an Ipad/Iphone app that is from an official Distributor. Awesome app check it out!

+1 for Mobile Stogie. It takes some time to get the information recorded but being able to delete a cigar as you smoke it is really nice. I would not keep it up to date if it was not with me on my phone at all times.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. Wasn't looking for an I-Phone app though.

I did find Cigar Register but it looks like it hasn't been updated in 4 years and doesn't work with 64 bit Windows 7. It does work with 32 big Windows 7, but only if you set it to run it in XP compatible mode. :(

This thread motivated me to inventorize my cigars and take pictures, will be usefull for both personal information and insurances purposes too if something were to happen. I deceided just to do a simple exel spreadsheet

Damn, I am less than halfway through taking inventory on Mobile Stogie and already over 700 sticks... I way underestimated my inventory and spending :surprised:

App crashes fairly regularly but not too annoying yet.

I use the Cigar Briefcase program sometimes too. Frank sent that to me about a year ago. It does work on 64-bit Windows - it's installed on my HP desktop, 64-bit Windows Vista, and works great.

That all said, no, it's not really up-to-date regarding some of the info stored on there. I got tired of adding in further info. So, I just use a scrolling Microsoft Word database chart that I formatted very simply, and just keep it going with a new page for every purchase/order that I make. Helps me keep track of sources, prices, box dates, etc.

Other than that, everything else is wrote down in my Cigar Dossier book that I keep.

I've been in contact with the author of Cigar Briefcase. He agreed to give me the source code, but couldn't find it. He did manage to dig out the cigar databases though. I can make them available if someone is willing to fill out the data.

Yeah, because I don't have a shortage of time on my hands as it is?!?!?! :nosmilies:

It would be nice if there was an update every year or two. It would be much easier if there was a CC and a NC version, as some of this stuff just gets nuts.

I agree that Excel is probably the best option. The other programs lock you into their format of things. Note to those using Excel: Google Docs is a great alternative, with lots of advantages - you can access it from anywhere and have no needs for maintaining backups.

I use my memory for what it's worth. Not that much as i get older. Otherwise, I just let myself be surprised.

Good call on Google Docs... are you able to use/edit on smartphones? iPhone? I haven't tried accessing Docs on my phone and if it's easily accessed and editable, that's a slam dunk IMO.

Excel for me. Just keep track of what you buy and what you smoke. It's a little cumbersome at times, but it works.....plus it helps me know when my brother starts to sneak a few too many sticks....

Frank can you send me the details on the DB? This could be a fun project, too bad no source code, but inventory applications are pretty straight forward. I think there is a big market for a nice multi-platform application, perhaps something web based would be best.

It's accessible via any platform that can access the web (blackberry, smartphone, pc, tablet). If you are using an IPhone or Andriod, there is a Google Docs App that makes working with the sheet much easier. With that said, it's never going to be a great user experience when trying to work on a spreadsheet on your phone (small screen)

It's Windows only. No Mac version.

MS Access. Uses the same basic code as excel but is much more user friendly. You. An even take any excel spreadsheet you have and import it into access. I could create an easy to use database for you guys to enter in your cigars and generate reports based on brand, age, style, etc.
