ashmaiz Posted September 18, 2011 Author Posted September 18, 2011 has anyone tried the motnecristo puritos? are they as high quality as other montecristo cigars, just smaller?? or are they lower quality tobacco??? that's MONTECRISTO. sorry for the spelling error
Pilgrims Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 they are a quick smoke, more like a large cigarillo, of that type I prefer the Partagas club but again just a very uick (ok ish) smoke
cigcars Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 *I've got some Cohiba Clubs that are teeney-weenie and are a very flavorful 10 min. or so smoke. Then I ended up with a small box of Guantanamera minis that was traded to me for one regular non-Cuban smoke! Obviously, the Cohiba smalls are a tad bit better, flavorful, etc. I may look to acquire Montecristo's puritos one day, but do trust everybody's opinion that the Partagas' are probably best smokes for that range. Lotusguy Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Sorry, but both my wife (who is an occasional cigarette and very occasional cigar smoker) and me found them absolutely vile and nasty. Luckily, we got them for free... The only positive I can mention is the purrdy aluminum box they come in.
77stoneblues Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I like the puritos for a really quick smoke. I find the first 1/3 to have a slight Monte taste, and after that it becomes hot plain tobacco. I also smoke the R&J and the Upmann varieties, and find the same experience, the Upmann probably being my fave, with the flavor holding on a little longer.
nick17 Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 not that good but I was extremely drunk when I had the only one I ever had
riazp Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 As for what puritos pertain, I usually stick to Partagas Club's, a bit shorter and a bit thinner than the Purito format, but comes in handy for a 10 min smoke during my breaks or when I need to cool down or something. Dont really enjoy the Monte Purito to be honest just too harsh
Smallclub Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 The puritos, club, mini, etc. that don't bear the appellation "habanos" are gross. If you want to smoke that size go for the Partagas Chicos; if not complex nor elegant it has the merit of authenticity.

Partagas Chicos are the only one of the cigarrillos that really resembles the flavor of the marca that it purports to represent.
PigFish Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 I too enjoy the Partagas Chicos. Then of course there was the day when they offered the Bolivar Demi Tasse. The Bolivar DT was simply one of the best small (tiny hand made) cigars that you could get. I think I wept the day I smoked my last one!!! I remember thinking that if I could get them for a buck each... I would have bought a thousand of them! Chalk that up as another reason to hate H SA et al. The Boli DT... rest in peace! -Piggy

I will also give my vote for portages chicos, but I have never tried the montecristo puritos.
ewipper Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 It's not really fair to compare handmade entreactos to a Chico or a purito. Fwiw

Trevor2118 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Give the interest in Puritos, I have updated the Puritos section of my website. The Mini & Club will be updated as time permits. http://www.cubancigarwebsite.com/ict_puritos.html
77stoneblues Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Awesome Trevor. Glad to see these poor little guys get some love, because I do enjoy them, for what they are.
