El Presidente Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Working away with "Undercover Brother" on in the background. If you haven't seen it...get it out for a laugh Undercover Brother: You know what they say, behind every great black man... Conspiracy Brother: is the police. Undercover Brother: No. Smart Brother: A bunch of slow white athletes? Undercover Brother: No! White She-Devil: A cute butt. Undercover Brother: NO! Lance (white guy): Probable cause. There have been a host of Black Movie Classics but for a laugh this s one of the best.
tmac77 Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Will definately check this out. I see Dave chapelle is in this also. A very funny guy
bacalao Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Have to mention Coming To America with Eddie Murphy absolutely hilarious. Then you get on fries and thats when you make the big bucks.
jedipastor Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Undercover Brother was much better than I was expecting. Shaft is of course a classic, and I'll 2nd Coming to America as well, also a classic. On a more serious note, I think Glory is one of the most underrated war films.
tmac77 Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Another very funny movie. It is a spoof on the 70's black gangster genre. Black Dynamite: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1190536/
CigarB Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Friday is a classic! Craig: I got fired yesterday. Smokey: Fo' real...?! I thought you had the day off yesterday. Craig: I did. Went in there pick up my check. Came home. Supervisor called me about 4 o'clock. Talking about they got me on tape stealing boxes. Smokey: The f*ck you doin' stealin' boxes for? What you trying to build a clubhouse? Man, I know you didn't go out like that. Craig: Hell, no, ain't got me on tape. Said they did. Fired me on the spot. Talkin' about pressin' charges. Smokey: Goddamn. You've got to be one stupid motherf*cker to get fired on your day off!
Maron76 Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Trading Places is my favorite. Eddie Murphy and Dan Akroid are great together! Not to mention a peek at Jamie Lee Curtis' boobies when she was in her prime.
PigFish Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 I don't really like theme, teachable moment movies but I appreciate a good movie. I happen to like the movie, "Tick, tick, tick." I also like the move, "In the heat of the night."
buster Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Putney Swope "Putney says the Borman 6 girl is got to have soul!." Great movie. Rick
cigcars Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 *Five On The Black Hand Side, which came out in 1975 I think. It was a humorus retort to the "Blaxploitation" violence, drugs, "let's kill the big bad white guy!" movies that were plenteous then. *Which Way Is Up? with Richard Pryor in 3 roles in this Michael Shultz comedy. It also ended with a "message" of "positivity"! too. *And speaking of the new "Shaft" with Samuel L. Jackson, they should have used Avery Brooks to play Shaft. That guy has more deep intensity associated with that character instead of what I feel is Jackson's lighter, more open personality. Brooks had that more seething, hidden and brooding presence that bespoke the Shaft personna IMHO!
Puros Y Vino Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 If you haven't seen it yet: Black Dynamite. A fantastic homage to the "blaxploitation" genre. You'll need to see it about 4 times to catch all the gags and nuances in every scene. Damn funny movie.
riazp Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Pootie Tang is one that I enjoyed alot too. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0258038/
mdzotti78 Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Forgot to add, "Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood"
riazp Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Forgot to add, "Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood" Yes! so true, that movie is hillarious
pedrodepacas Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Have to mention Coming To America with Eddie Murphy absolutely hilarious. Then you get on fries and thats when you make the big bucks. Agreed with Coming to America, all of the barbershop scenes are hilarious.
bstarrs Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I've always thought that "The Toy" with Richard Pryor and Jackie Gleason was hilarious. And even though it is not a movie, Eddie Murphy "Delirious" is one of the funniest stand up routines ever.
Tonytoohot Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Harlem Nights. Three generations of the black comedians: Redd Foxx, Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy. Favorite quote: (White Cop); Put your mother on the phone... Honey I'm not come back home ever! Also Boomerang -Eddie Murphy, Martin Lawrence, David Alan Grier and John Witherspoon. Favorite Scene: Thanksgiving dinner at Eddie's house. Second: Dinner with Grace Jones!!! ROFLMAO!!!!
MoneyPit Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Somehow I overlooked this thread. I know it's a little late but I've got a great one. The funniest one that I have ever seen is a lesser known movie called "Trippin'". It's filled with a cast of characters that you'll immediately recognize, but the movie never really got much playtime. The story is about a young man who's a senior in high school and his struggle to deal with family and society pressures. The ending is a bit predictable and cheesy but it's in good company with the others that have been listed. The witty and smart lines are absolutely hilarious and fast paced. Definitely recommend while enjoying a beverage or two. "Anybody seen my butterfly....?"
rdb6 Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Putney Swope the all time best. Loved Coming to America as well.
