While Habanos SA does not publish figures, best reported estimates suggest around 150 Million handmade Cuban cigars are produced each year.

I was wondering how many serious Cuban-Cigar smokers there would be Worldwide.

By serious, I mean people who regularly purchase and smoke Cuban-cigars. This rules out smokers of gifted cigars etc.

Basically I am wondering what impact my website has worldwide....and conversely, what level is Habanos SA is likely to take notice. :rotfl:

My visitor counter currently shows (almost) 148,000 visitors from 168 countries ....based on IP addresses (it is not a "hit" counter....it is actual IP addresses).

So.....any thoughts?

Trev, this may not answer your question directly, but all I can say is that if HSA were smart, they'd realize what an invaluable resource you've created with your site.

From a selfish point of view, they could consider it a great asset, and by helping you with information, in conjunction with their own outlets, spread the word and

give insight to their products to the many who do visit your site - every day.

As always, thank you for all your efforts.

Outside the US I would guess the majority of "serious cigar smokers" smoke Cuban cigars. Within the US the percentage is surely smaller, as it probably is in other cigar producing countries like the DR, Honduras, and Nicaragua. How you could put a number on any of these is beyond me.

I think production figures of hand made product were 85 million or thereabouts. They are running just over 50% of capacity.

What would you define as a serious cigar smoker? That really plays with the figures. Would you consider it 1-2 a month?

HSA don't see anything outside of their balance sheet and market share currently. There would be maybe half a dozen internally aware of the site. I think the site should be an addon to the HSA site. Not sure how receptive they would be but it is a no brainer in my eyes.

I love reading cigar-related articles in magazines, periodicals, news specials, etc. ESPECIALLY when they're talking about Cuban Habanos!! Earlier years articles loved to touch on U.S. cigar smokers and estimate that the American consumption of habanos cigars actually equalled or out numbered other world wide habanos smokers by at least 2 million. However, the unfortunate news was that a great number of the article smoked was probably fake. I count myself among those who regularly purchase and I'm the one who "gifts" them to friends and those near to my heart.

My guess is that the people who frequent cigar forums and use your site, Trevor, are a small percent of the overall number of people who regularly buy and smoke Cuban cigars; certainly if you consider the emerging market of China and probably India.

Wow, I love your site! Didn't realize you were a Mod on here :rotfl: I found the site through a link on another forum (in answer to a question I posted).

Thanks for creating that great resourse, I've used it on many occasions to figure out what the frak someone had given me, lol, as well as to figure out what sticks are still in production vs "deleted." Extremely usefull for someone like me who's only in his first couple years of exploring Habanos. Great stuff, keep up the good work!

while 150 millon cuban cigars are produced each year i am not sure how many are sold let alone smoke ,but if it is 150 millon from talking to friends and other smokers i would say the avarage smoked is three a week so basic math 150 diveded by52 =2.88 millon per week divded by 3 =96000 so the rest of you can relax, thats the answer simples, 96 thousand cuban cigar smokers : :rotfl:

I should add that I do not mean for that to sound negative.

It's just that I think we -- those of us here and other forums and who use your site -- are the minority of Cuban cigar smokers.

That in no way diminishes the importance of your site.

I don't know what the number of Cuban cigar smokers are globally, but I can say this Trevor...your website is easily hands down the best and most informative Cuban cigar website around. Your website, MRN's book and FoH are the only CC references I use. Thanks for all your efforts for the Cuban cigar smoking community.

Trevor,

Thank you so much for your fantastic website, must have taken a lot of work and time to put all this together. I just found out about your site a couple months ago and it's become my go to reference for all things cuban.

Continue your good work !
