CaptainQuintero Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 So this has been on my mind for a while now. I have a very strong craving to smoke an R&J cigar. While that doesn't seem too strange, I have only ever smoked one R&J in my life and it was a plugged no 3 tubed and this was over three years ago. I just can't get out of my mind the image of my opening a thick red and white tube, pulling out robusto-ish stick which is light brown in leaf colour, and having an amazing smoke that is mild leather, cedar and touches of spice and dried fruit. Now I have no idea what the flavours of R&J even are, the only way I can see this as is some kind of cigar-related man pregnancy cravings. Is this normal? I normally take a long time researching different sticks before buying so this goes against how I choose which cigars to buy. Do you get illogical cigar-related man pregnancy cravings?
cigcars Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 There are super premium cigars I have tried numerous times based on the high recommendations of my fellow BOTL, and those cigars just DID NOT do it for me. And I have my regular "Go to" smokes that I dearly love but that I know my fellow connoisseurs would be "Oh come now!" in their outlook upon. And there are those that I would not give up on just because of one or two (or three) less than pleasant results with. Am I strange? Please try the Cazadores or Churchill and you're likely to find these as a better showing for this brand!

riazp Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 I crave Behikes, and I've never even had one. We all crave behikes
El Presidente Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Do you get illogical cigar-related man pregnancy cravings? No I haven't. You have serious issues Cap
david9985 Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 CaptainQ, I fully understand you. Not your exact issue obviously, but definitely of building up imaginary or semi-imaginary pictures of cigars in my mind! It's hard to shake off perceptions you may have of what cigars will be like. If you decide before you smoke it that you will enjoy it, you probably will... or that you will definitely taste a certain flavour, you probably will. It is hard to differentiate between expectation and reality. I hope when you get to your RyJ that it fulfils your unfounded expectations!
CaptainQuintero Posted June 21, 2011 Author Posted June 21, 2011 lol the thing is that the cravings are over a marka that everyone is saying has been in a crap-patch for 5/6 years. Tubos are supposedly a bit better? Maybe that will stop me from setting myself up for a fall Sometimes I suprise even myself with what comes into my head and sticks there...
Peter11216 Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 the only way I can see this as is some kind of cigar-related man pregnancy cravings. Is this normal? I am not sure if the cravings are, or are not normal, but man pregnancy is not.
CaptainQuintero Posted June 22, 2011 Author Posted June 22, 2011 Personally I've had many more good experiences with only a few bad ones when it comes to RyJs. I suggest a 10ct box of Short Churchills. I don't think you would be disappointed, and if you are you haven't invested much. I think you're right. I felt myself slipping into thinking that every single R&J apart from Cazadores are not worth smoking. Funnily enough I just looked into them after you said about them, and those short churchill tubed are pretty much exactly what I was seeing in my illogical cigar-related man pregnancy craving visions, right down to the size and colour. Bit strange as I didn't even know SC came in tubes or even had seen one before as far as I can recall. Could be a new marketing technique from czars; subliminal messages hidden in all of the video reviews they do!
LeafLover Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 To me, the most illogical thing I do is that when I want to try a cigar...I buy a whole freakin' box of it! How's that for illogical!
Vortigan Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 To me, the most illogical thing I do is that when I want to try a cigar...I buy a whole freakin' box of it that's definitely what I WOULD do if the funds allowed!!! It's not a craving, more a waking dream,to have a walk in humidor with 4 or 5 boxes of absolutely everything in it!! Well maybe not quite everything,I'm sure I could quite happily bypass the Guantanamera range!!
