Rob and I had a chance to sit down and do a cigar review without Ken. Yes thats right remember me, I was once involved with all the reviews but those two were intimidated by my style and camera presence so I have been missing for the last year. But I'm back better than before. :2thumbs:

Great review! Been a while since we've seen that street and all it's focus stealing activities :D

Running commentary...

- youse fellas just bitching for the first 2:00! a record ;-)

- anzac biscuit - peanut based? - i thought it was oats and honey... at least it is over here

- stalking the local Maserati-owners - accountant with that kinda car selling cocaine as well?

...End

I would go out and buy a box of these, but it turns out i did get one off you guys... last week. Prob same box code. Will compare. Cheers!

All this time we though you had gone AWOL after filling in for Lisa during her vacation, and "someone" was logging in and posting for you. Good to see you are ALIVE. Great review :D

Nice to see you back Smithy. Straight away I noticed an increased level of sophistication. You both had some nice duds on and Rob even had his ears lowered for the video. :buddies:

You two mates inspired me to smoke my last short. From 2005, it was a glorious smoke that i nubbed to the end. Full body straight off the bat with tons of peppery spice and black coffee. The draw was perfect and the burn was razor sharp along with a wonderful aroma. I paired the cigar with a black coffee and some home made Polish cake. What a great combo! Time to invest in a cab. Great review guys.

Always have these in the humi! Thanks for the review...

Well it's about time you came back and did a review Smithy! You've been missed. Now we just need for you to get Alain to do a few reviews as well...especially the two of you when Rob is away on a trip...think of the upsides...reviewing great cigars, raiding the liquor cabinet....being irresponsible...sounds too good to pass up, eh?!?!?

One of my go to smokes, especially during the cold winter time in montreal, heck even summer time, good solid construction, great flavors and only gets better with age

I haven't seen the review as yet because UTube is blocked at the office.

As for Smithy elevating the discourse, the Gargett bar is pretty low. ;-)

good to have you back Smithy!! And I'm going to say that the PC gets the slight edge over the 1/2 corona on best representative of the marca.

I'm convinced. I'll take a run at a half-corona in the near future.

But I have to ask: is putting good wine in screw-top bottles an Australian thing? Generally speaking, when I hear a screw-top seal breaking, it's a pretty good bet I'm hanging out with the boys under the bridge and the label's gonna read "MD 20/20" or "Wild Irish Rose."

Good review. I enjoy the dickens out of these!

But I'm back better than before.

Strange! I didnt notice you were gone...

Smithy, I think Rob would feel more comfortable if you did the review in shorts and bare feet .

No one would be feeling more comfortable doing that. I try to maintain a dress standard in these reviews.

A word on my recent Partagas Short [AOP MAY 10 so not quite the same box code].

Got this from Czar's and it was specially selected by Rob or Smithy, be aware that i am not a fanboy or a flatterer, if it was crap i would say so ... i can be very insensitive especially when typing into a machine from a safe distance ;-)

However... these were beautiful to the eye with a lovely colorado wrapper, reddish sheen, you could feel the oils on your fingers, just lovely. Brings a tear to my eye when i open a box of cigars like this. Of similar if not greater importance, the leathery cedary partagas aroma was oozing out of these things, almost inviting me to munch on them rather than wastefully lighting them up.

I did the latter and it was full of leather, just elegant leather, a bit of meatiness, wine oak, a hint of cedar maybe but like walking into the tanners shed. Actually made me think of firing up an expensive mahogany and leather couch and just inhaling the proceeds. Clearly young and one dimensional but quite satisfying wysiwyg experience, great with my bottomshelf Cockburns tawny port (apparently one is not meant to say CocK-Burns but Co-burns or so said the guy at the liquor store - really - if your name is Cockburns wear it with pride and Vigour, don't try to hide away the blatant virility references when it is spelt out for all to see ;-).

These will surely age well, in fact, one of the rare cigars where there is little doubt in my mind. Few will make it that far though by virtue of their quick'neasy and petite format.

So all kudos to the blokes (and sheila) at czars without whom we still'd have a 50(?)% chance of picking up bland or poorly constructed cigars.

Smithy, Rob, I take my hat off to you, and although it might reveal little more than a sparsity of foliage, it is offered with gratitude and respect.
