Do you guys keep around some special cigars for your friends to smoke ? Or could they pick whatever you have in your humi? Which ones would you offer to your guests?

When I have friends over the house, (I mean real friends who smoke cigars),

They can go in my cigar room and pick out any cigar they want from my 3 Humidors.

After all, what are friends for, Right ?

They also do the same when I go to their homes

I am actually loading up now. I golfevery Sunday with my brother and 2 old friends and always have alot of cigars for all. I believe in letting most friends smoke good cigars than backwoods crap..lol

Though most know that if wanting to have one, they can stop by anytime and take a cighar or 2 as long as they dont take from the bottom2 shelves.

If I know they are into cigars or generally have a taste for the finer things Ill give them whatever is great, Ive given away dozens of cigar.

But some people, like my dear cousin, bless him, he is just as happy with a glass of cask wine and a honduran cheapie than a great wine and a cohiba. serious, he wouldnt tell the difference.

If the conversation is great and everyones happy then so am I

I give them whatever I smoke myself. Im always on a mission to get more friends into cigars and that wont happen if I give them **** sticks.

I think its important that we all smoke the same stick when togther, similar to the review videos. Helps promote better conversation and comparison. Always keep a few Behike on hand for those special celebration moments, (wedding, birth of a child, and in many cases divorces, lol)

That being said, I do have a few friends over once in a while who wouldnt appreciate the good sticks, always have a few Open Masters on hand for that crew.

Generally, what's mine is yours. Certainly, if I am at someone else's I have no problems mooching from them!

*I'm like Dicko...if they KNOW their cigars and are educated Connoisseurs of the subject - they get the best; Cohibas, Bolivars, even a Behike or two. But again, like some of you have said, we do have those good friends and acquaintences who think a Dutch Masters, El Producto, etc. are absolutely cigar-licious! :( Y-U-U-C-K-K!!! One of my uncles LIKES King Edward. This was in the days when they didn't pretend to have any real tobacco worth a dern in them (I'm talking about homogenized tobacco leaf and other horrors & dreads). We've gotten him true handmade name brands Arturos Fuentes, Hoyo de Monterreys and Partagas. I've gotten him sacred Habanas, his daughter (after I schooled her) has gotten him expensive handmades, etc...he takes them. He smokes them. He thanks us...he LIKES King Edward.

Some folks will always choose and enjoy a Big Mac over a Porter House steak, you know! Even so, our good family acquaintences get NC's and such from me, and a few machine-made 100% tobacco mixtures, and they think the Queen of England has knighted them, they're so delighted :king:

I always keep my humidor open, for my friends, but I have two rules, If they are the kind of friends that want to smoke "just to belong with the crowd" I give them cheep ones (never bad ones) like, Fonseca, Quintera even some JLP's. the second one is if they are going to smoke a good one, they have to finish it! I hate people just having a puff or 6 of a siglo VI and throwing it away... :(

I share everything with my good friends, including the top-shelf stuff. My only rule is no self-service - I pick.

I will gladly share the top-shelf sticks in my collection with friends who enjoy cigars. Most of my friends are the same way, to me it's part of being a gracious host.

However, if it's somebody who seldom or never smokes cigars, I tend to pass them a NC to try instead. Lately, I've been thinking about stocking up on some Fonsecas for this purpose.

i share the sentiments of many of you that have responded to this post already...

i'm gonna be honest, i have literally no friends that smoke cigars, not that i mind...if i'm honest i kinda prefer it.

not to sound like a grump but most times a cigar for me is a release from some of the strangleholds of everyday life...

i just want to light up, with a nice pint of Peroni by myself, reflecting and digesting thoughts from the week gone by.

if i was in that position though, i keep such a small collection of cigars that the person i'm smoking with would probably get a good smoke anyway, (i'm using one of those limited edition Cohiba humidors, only holds like 20 sticks) but if i had the money for huge collection of cigars i would probably only give certain smokes to people that would appreciate it.

I usually have one humidor that is stocked with cigars that I am regularly pulling from for myself. They are cigars that I smoke myself and I feel are smoking well at present. My guests are welcome to choose anything from that humidor whether they are regular smokers or not. I'm always trying to get more of my friends into cigar smoking as well, and bad cigars (as stated earlier) wouldn't cut it.

My friends who smoke cigars and know the difference between a good one and a bad one can pick whatever they like from any of my humidors. For my friends who don't smoke cigars or if I think they are not going to finish the cigar get my crap/junk/Guantanamera. If I'm going to sit down with someone I'm trying to turn on to cigars and I'm pretty sure they're going to finish it I'll give them whatever I'm smoking.
