Vortigan Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Without wanting it at all to be one of those horrific, corporate team building type of things,I thought it might be good to find out a bit about any of you that want to share :-)) So anyway,I'm Michael.....good to meet you all,so to speak.I'm a registered nurse working on a specialist medical out-patient unit that deals predominantly with patients under the care of the oncology and/or haematology doctors.I play bass guitar,a bit of piano and I like to read....and smoke! Is it cheesy?? I hope not, ahhhh well let me know if it is eh,I'm among friends I reckon :-)) Cheers all.

laficion Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Hi, my name is Guy, I'm french, I grew up in the USA and left at 20 to travel the world ( N.J. but I won't dare say where ) My wife and I were fantastically happy for close to 21 years ...............................and then we met She is originally Belgium but became French by marriage, (I saved her from frustration in a small box ) I came back to France 28 years ago. I worked for a well known mineral water in a green bottle, and am now an old retired fart living in the south of France. I have 3 kids that are now on their own, OUFFFFF , I made it !!!!!, like they say " far from the eyes, close to the heart". I created a cigar club 17 years ago, we are now 35 members and we enjoy being together around fine foods, fantastic wines and great Habanos and sometimes going to Cuba for a real blast. I drink with friends, I go out a lot and come home in the early hours, I smoke at least 2 or 3 cigars a day, I never go to sleep before 2am and my wife and I do not share the same hobbies( she is a dancer). That's why I'm happily married for 39 years and trying to make the best from my retierment. As I say," Life is a ***** but someone's got to do it" Cheers, Guy

Colt45 Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 I'm a pisces with a bad moon rising. I believe inner beauty is most important, and like a great personality, good sense of humor, long walks on the beach at sunset, and world peace. I like both kinds of music - country and western. I don't drink alcohol - lips that touch wine will never touch mine! - but admit to imbibing in sparkling cider on extra special occasions. I'm a florist by day, and in my spare time, I create paper flower arrangements to raise money for charity at church socials. I don't drive a car and don't eat gassy foods. Welcome to Friends of Habanos

Puros Y Vino Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 LOL. I like how this thread is developing. Ok ok... My name is Francesco (Frank mostly) Happily unmarried for 14 years. That is to say we've been together that long without officially being "married". I live in Toronto, Canada. Been smoking cigars for 3+ years. I swore to myself and the "wife" that I'd only keep a 20ct humidor. I am now at 500+ cigars. I've been in IT 15+ years managing datacentres for Telcos and more recently doing ITIL process design and management. In my spare time I travel with the wife as much as possible. Stalebread Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Hi, I'm Stalebread online Ken offline I've done a bunch of different things from being a blacksmith which is before my second wife knew me to an in-house corporate trainer with a major NYC hospital where I designed and "facilitated" those horrific teambuilding gigs but don't hold that against me a long time ago I made knives which must have some redeeming qualities I've been married just six years or is it seven to this crazy Israeli Broad but before that we lived together for about 15 years cause when we moved to Paris we had to be married for health insurance purposes which is OK because we were like married before I don't really like to talk about myself and I've gotten forgetful lately plus I was the director of the Craft Students League in NYC for about five years but I think it doesn't exist any more which was a long time after I was born and raised in West Virginia where I grew up hunting squirrels and fishing for catfish both of which are good fried and lived in several places around the States including Carbondale and Richmond and Wahiawa before moving to Paris, the last 20 years in Williamsburg Brooklyn now I mostly sit in cafes and drink tea and use crayons to draw pictures and prepare dinner and sometimes vacuum the apartment cause my wife works all day and never ******* in any way about my cigars which is good because she's way too smart to be placated by me buying her bling she doesn't even like bling anyway our wedding rings combine gold and stainless steel but not the same kind I used in my knives and when we first met we both had high-tech slingshots that we later used to shoot ceramic balls at the abandoned building across from our apartment in Williamsburg and I may even be older than Guy-Of-Southern-France.
Kangaroo495 Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 I'm an Aussie (from Melbourne), been living in Moscow, Russia for the last 5 years. Bloody astounding place.
Ghabanos Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 I truly hate giving out information about myself on-line, but this community is so fricken friendly. I will write the abridge version of the coles notes of the summary of my intro... born and raised in Calgary Canada. Studied business at the local uni. Left for Hong Kong to explore - and just so happen to stumble on a job with a big four accounting firm. pursued my cpa and then went back to school for a masters. I now work for a US bank in Hong Kong. 30 years old, married, couple of kids (really young kids). I love sports - play most racket sports, but mostly played tennis. love football and play on a weekly basis now. love to travel - been to many parts of europe, south east asia, china, some austrlia, and north america. plan to visit south america (CUBA), africa, and some tropical islands - maldives, bali and okinawa. love to gamble - thankfully macau is just far enough that I can't go every weekend, but close enough that I can conveniently take a day off and spend it there... and you can smoke indoors there. love to eat - indian, chinese, french, and vietnamese are just some that I really enjoy. BUT I really appreciate an excellent cut of steak, or bbq with family and friends. lately I am trying to eat healthy as I am probably 50lbs overweight. don't read much, but when I do I really enjoy the books that I have read: outliers and 4-hour work week are two books that I would recommend. been intrigued with cigars since high school. started to smoke more regularly since 2004. begun to educate myself since last year. joined this forum last week - got hooked because of the videos that rob, smithy, and ken and friends frequently star in. I smoke with a friend most of the time, but cherish the self time when I smoke alone.
tmac77 Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Nice idea for a post, well here goes. My name is Tom, born in London, UK just down the road from Highbury, the former home of the best football club in the world. Emigrated to Canada as a young lad to Toronto, and have lived since then in, Ottawa, Virginia, USA, Montreal, Tokyo, Japan and finally back to Toronto where I have now lived for the last 29 years. In my younger days I played Varsity H.S. American football, semi-pro football (soccer for those in N.A.) Varsity University Hockey (in goal) and taught and raced downhill G.S. skiing. Slightly less active now as most of my free time is taken up either golfing, fishing, cooking, drinking and smoking cigars. But I still enjoy getting out to kick, throw, or toss the odd football (both types) and baseball around from time to time. On the even less active side I love watching sports of most types and my favorite teams are: Arsenal Gunners; Longest serving member of the EPL Washington Resdkins, though thick and thin since 1976 Montreal Canadiens, Les Glorieux and the most successful team in the history of the NHL. Toronto Blue Jays, have to support at least one home town team Was educated in the US and Canada where I went to Royal Military College and served time in the armored corp. and the Canadian Navy after which I headed out to private industry, accounting, finance, investments, and am now a senior executive heading up Enterprise Risk Management at a financial institution here in Toronto. I have twin 19 year old daughters from my first (doomed to fail) marriage, who are a delight, a frustration and a royal pain in the wallet on any given day. I really wonder how they, along with their naive friends, have any hope of surviving in this world we now live in. One of these days… one of these days….one can only live in hope. Married my wonderful trophy wife (she actually likes that moniker) in 2005 and have been living in a state of matrimonial bliss ever since. Helps quite a bit that she also enjoys golfing and fishing, doesn’t like ‘bling’, flowers or chocolates and supports my obsessive cigar hobby. Speaking of cigars.. well I do enjoy a good cigar from time to time and find that some of the better ones are those that Ken describes as ‘diabolical’ (super taster my arse..)

Cohiba Stevie Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Hi kevin - intro. What's photovoltaic? Solar panel systems i believe, i used to work alongside a company installing them in belfast, I was lookin at your website kevin and i really wish you a very prosperous future with your new venture, the industry potential for photovoltaics is like a ticking time bomb ready to blow, fair play to you mate. If u have no quams with working across the water on the emerald isle i can certainly throw your name to some of my construction and contractor friends.
benjaminbbush Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Ben from SOuth WEst GeorgiA, thus the screen name of SOWEGA. Living in Tallahassee now---GO NOLES! but married for 4 years to a Gator from UF. She is cuban, gorgeous (I out kicked my coverage with her) and is with child. We have our first child a baby girl due in mid-July. I really hope her first words are "boo-gators". Grew up farming sweet corn, cotton and peanuts. I was once a redneck with the accent that Warren likes to imitate on the video reviews! I do NOT play the banjo. Most don't believe it but I have mostly lost my accent. My wife's grandfather (who does not speak a lick of english except "Beer???") chides me that I have the grip and handshake of a farmer but the soft hands of a lawyer. I am a scum sucking bottom feeder a/k/a lawyer, mostly transactional real estate representing banks in commercial and agricultural transactions so it is a pretty tough time right now. I have always loved cigars they just have never loved me back. I would only smoke 1 every 3-5 years and end up fertilizing someone's shrubbery or practicing my moose mating call. So about 2 years ago, i started methodically smoking mild cigars and I am working my way up in strength and taste. Needless to say, this forum and the video reviews have been tremendous in helping me to learn about all things cigar and the proper definition of "pissed". hello to all!
