I have a box of Cohiba Siglo VI from 09 I got them as a wedding present from my wife. The idea was to set this box aside for one cigar a year on or around our anniversary for the next 25 years. My question is do you all think that 25 years is too long to age these cigars. I'm excited to smoke the first one in the next month.

I would say 25 years is not too much for a Cohiba VI. They really reach there prime after 10 years so 25 is not too bad. Regardless, if you are smoking one of these to celebrate 25 years of marriage, it is going to taste great regardless. Congrats on the new marriage.

In all honesty, the Siglo VI was first introduced in 2003 so they aren't even 10 years old yet.

I recently smoked an OR VI and wasn't blown away by it. I do enjoy some of the more recent production VI, I've sampled lots from 07-10 and all have been outstanding.

Might I suggest a box of Esplendidos? They are a really great Cohiba to age.

just my .02

the best advise I can give you is to go with the one a year plan. If after some time you notice them going downhill in flavor, just start burning through them at a quicker pace. If they just keep getting better, you made a wise investment.

Once they get to a place where you think age has done them some good you might start to keep the box wrapped in a ziplock bag. Some type of oxygen restriction will slow the aging process. Or so I'm told. I have some '04s that took a good five years to come around.

congratulations!!!

Once a year is just fine to celebrate a historic event in your life. They should last for a long time if cared for properly.

I did the same thing with the 2010 EL montecristo grand edmundos as my son was born october 2010. Bought 10 boxes to smoke one a year as well as to age some for when he is 21 and graduates (hopefully) from college.

Enjoy them in good health and congratulations again!

Great idea, as for the question who knows? You may prefer it 25 years from now but the only definite is that it will be different. The only other consistent is that in that period your taste preferences will also likely change. It wouldn't be my first choice to lay down for 25 years, I would instead go with either the lanceros or Sir Winstons. Either way enjoy!

It might be a sad day once you reach your 25th anni and all the cigars are gone. :buddies: Get at least another box, then you're good until you're an old man. Always thought the concept was cool.
