Holysmokes Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 I am looking to buy a box and would like your input. I have never bought RE before so your experience would be valuable, as always!
bstarrs Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 The Simones from our neck of the woods are pretty good. There should still be plenty of them around.
sblevit Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 The Grandes, Maestros and Short Boli are all excellent.
bolivr Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Not on the list but the PL Encantos are getting a good review. Asia Pacific release, and I have tried one only but it was very good.
Loki Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 I have sampled a few of the PL robustos, great. I am happy that I bought 2 cabs.
ewipper Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 I am looking to buy a box and would like your input. I have never bought RE before so your experience would be valuable, as always! PL Robustos. Bad reports for the Maestros from this source.
Tarks Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 I haven't smoked all from the list but from the ones I have smoked, without doubt the Boli Simones.
thechenman Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 RA Estupendos for me...from the first or second release...doesn't matter...they have both been good.
bassman Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 From your list SLR Pacificos & RA CFs are the best. German RA Belis, RA Phenicios, and Edmundo Dantes 109s are better than all listed- IMHO.
sg1234 Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 The Simones, PL belicosos and robustos are all great, but my favorite so far has been the SLR Pacificos.
kevinfj Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Can I vote "None of the above"? Sorry, I find the flavor profile of the RE's confusing or absent. Have smoked a bunch of these and I am almost always dissapointed. Go for regular production stuff and not marketing...... FJ
MoneyPit Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 I've rather enjoyed the SLR Pacificos, but haven't sampled everything from the list.
Wil Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 There was a fair bit of interest in the RA Celestiales Finos when they were released. How are they going now?
Charltonc Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 SLR Pacifico was great. I am a huge regios fan, but Pacifico was on a total different level.
CohibaBehike Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 Simones, but i've got estupendos on the way That would be my second pick but I think it's because of the size. I would rather smoke the robusto personally!
El Presidente Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 There was a fair bit of interest in the RA Celestiales Finos when they were released. How are they going now? I have had brilliant and blah. It will take anothr 18 months for the tale of the tape to come out on this one. i don't have too much doubt they will be stallar. From the list I can't separate the Pacificos and the Estupendos. Then there are some sleepers which are coming into their own. The Punch has been a cracker of late.
shrink Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 You didn't list some favorites, like the 2005 Ramon Allones Belicoso. However, from your list, I'd choose the RA Estupendos and the PL Robustos. Neither is quite "ripe", but their potential shows through. Honorable mention goes to the Bolivar Simones. A delicious cigar... right now.
Holysmokes Posted April 13, 2011 Author Posted April 13, 2011 Turns out I bought a box of Punch Platino (India Regional Release) I will be receiving the box soon enough. I will let you know how they look and taste. From what I heard, these are one of the best RE yet. Thats, a tall order but only time will tell.

almudawi Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 The RA releases for our region (Middle East) are splendid especially Ramon Allones Phoenicio Edicion Regional Exclusivo LÃbano "30th annaversario"
joeypots Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 '05 RA Belicoso '06 Por Laranaga Lonsdale '09 Bolivar Especials #2 The Bolivars are still available. I broke down for a box even though I swore off of LEs and Res in '06. Too much stellar regular production out there.
tmac77 Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Not on the list but are smoking great despite their youth are the PL Encanto's. I have also tried the Robaina Petit Robusto RE Canada. A great little robusto with a ton of cocao flavour
ewipper Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 The Delicioso and the British regional r better than all of these.
