frenchkiwi Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Many of us got severely pissed off by Habanos 2010 cigar deletions: Dip#4, Partagas Serie du Connaisseur, etc etc, all on the scrapheap. If you had it your way what would you vote out of production in 2011? (hopefully to make way for the reinstatement of some past greats)
Colt45 Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 If you had it your way what would you vote out of production in 2011?(hopefully to make way for the reinstatement of some past greats)[/size] Anything Cohiba - the Opus X of Cuban cigars.
dB69 Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Grassy Cohibas. Tasteless Party P#2. EDIT: Oh, I almost forgot Monte Open. Thank you RyanS for reminding me!
Nocoins Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 There's not much left to cut, is there? Cuabas maybe? And why does SCDLH have like seven sizes? Seems like three or four too many to me. I vote to cut the Behikes. They just annoy me because HSA is rolling a bunch of prime (I assume) tobacco into expensive fat stupid sizes that I am never going to pay for and smoke. Maybe if they made a BHK 42 I'd change my tune. Anyway, I'd love to bring back the cigars that we love but lost, but they almost certainly were cut because they didn't sell enough. The tobacco is sitting in Cuba, but I don't expect them back any time soon. Oh, and the Monte Opens don't really bother me -- I don't care what they do with all that volado. Monte Open Really Wide Churchills for all I care.
mazolaman Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 I thought I was the only one who didn't like Cohiba. After buying 3 Cohiba Robusto over Christmas, and then being given one,all as dull as ditchwater,I'd vote that one out.
frenchkiwi Posted January 26, 2011 Author Posted January 26, 2011 RyJ no.1 & 2 tubos - they're one of the most readily available habanos in liquor stores, bars, duty free, all over the world, and generally just give cuban cigars a bad name. Wide Churchills - 55rg what a joke, might as well smoke a molotov cocktail. Gran Reservas, Behikes et al- the death of communism rolled into a cigar. fair play to the marketing department to get people buying such expensive cigars. will only encourage them to delete cheaper regular production in favour of overpriced follies and funky new leaf names. Collectible leather bands anyone? i'd buy these if the box was made in solid gold. Cuaba - unless they sort out construction issues Guantanamera & Montecristo Opens: guantanameras are better value for money. scary. that's plenty of hating for one day.
mkz Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 * Monte Open * Guanotanamera * Everything above 50 RG... (except pyramides)
khomeinist Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Culebras? Who smokes these things? Lol. I actually like the Partagas Culebras. Good for certain social situations when you are three sheets to the wind. I would only vote to scale back the LE and RE programs into something more coherent and broadly satisfying. I would also move to cut the baby (petite) robustos..... as they are quite silly and annoying to hold/behold
PigFish Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Wait... we have more tobacco and labor than the market will bear in cigars. If someone wants a certain cigar and that increases sales by a small amount annually, then no cigars should be cut at all. There is an abundance of tobacco, why can we not all get the cigars that we want? Being in the minority of people that love many discontinued cigars I find the practice of death wishing cigars, potential favorites of another, a distasteful practice. Are there cigars that I don't smoke and would not miss; sure? Might someone else miss them; almost assuredly. With shelves of the most popular smokes in warehouses why cut anyones favorite cigar? -Piggy
Stalebread Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 . . .I would only vote to scale back the LE and RE programs into something more coherent and broadly satisfying. . . . Yes! Make them truly limited. Truly regional. And truly good.

So let me fantasize about deleting their poor replacements... as to why they don't make an infinite variety of cigars, you'll have to ask a Habanos executive. They'd probably reply that that's what they're doing with E.L.s, R.E.s, and gold-crapping behikes [cue tears and gnashing of teeth]
dicko Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Anything Cohiba - the Opus X of Cuban cigars. yeah same...wait wut?? is this real life?? and I thought Colt was flawless I would get rid of all the monte 1, 3, 5. (are these ever good? im seriously asking...) any LE that is 52 x 4" ...whats the point??!! all pyramids/torpedos/belis bolivar royal corona yes, half joking, yes, mostly serious Although i agree with Piggy, let people smoke what they want, dont delete anything!
cigcars Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 *** The Romeo & Julieta Wide (short) Churchills The Partagas Serie D LE (shrunken robusto size) *And for all I care (ready ) they can ditch the ENTIRE Trinidad series...don't know why they came up with that in the first place have enjoyed more Vegueros than that one.
CohibaBehike Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I just wish RA 898's were still in production... I'd cut plenty of cigars to get that cigar back.
thechenman Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I really wouldn't desperately miss any of the standard production in these marcas, and wouldn't mind seeing them go if they would bring back some of my favorites that have been discontinued over the last few years from the Punch, Partagas, Diplomaticos and Rafael de Gonzalez marcas. Montecristo Open Vegueros Cuaba Quai d'Orsay Guantanamera Quintero Flor de Cano Jose L. Peidra Juan Lopez Fonseca

Haven't had a good MC#3 in ages, but lots of good #1s & #5s. And I enjoy some Piramides- Partages EL Piramides (wouldn't miss the P2s a bit, though), well aged Upmann #2s and HQ/PSP MC#2s are excellent.

Montecristo Open Vegueros Cuaba Quai d'Orsay Guantanamera Quintero Flor de Cano Jose L. Peidra Juan Lopez Fonseca I'm with you on this. It's not that I mind that these cigars exist, but if you are gonna lay off rollers as is reportedly happening, lay off the ones who roll these.
Trevor2118 Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I think we should sacrifice Guantanamera! Guantanamera are not actually a Habanos product. They are produced (in Cuba) by the Cuban-Spanish joint venture Internacional Cubana de Tabacos S.A. (ICT).
