The RE program certainly opens up the ability to produce long discontinued cigars within the current Marques. This is obviously subject to molds being available if it is a particular fugurado.

If rumour is correct then we will see both a Partagas Corona Extra next year and RA Belicoso following in general production.

The RR program is a good way to trial greater market acceptance of a cigar.

Anything wrong with letting the distributors or big retailers decide what they want to order outside of standard production?

I remember seeing some old pre-revolution catalogs that listed dozens upon dozens of different shapes and sizes for the particular brand. I can't imagine that those were all in regular production at once. It appeared more a matter of what could be made-to-order to meet the customer's needs.

I don't know if the RE program works that way, or if HSA decides what is to be offered through whom (I suspect the later). If the distributors were able to make that call then that might be the answer to reviving some of our lost favorites. The volume for a certain cigar might be enough to justify it for one distributor where it's not for all of them at once... HSA willing, of course.

I second the RA Beli...i've got a couple boxes from the original release and they are very nice smokes. Every year there is some type of RA beli/pyramide it seems to me they should just go ahead and produce it as part of the regular production lineup.

Partagas Corona Extra in 50 cab would certainly garner a vote from me...as well as an RA Beli.

Couldn't have said it better!

The beauty about cigars is that they can always be brought back. As long as the blend knowledge is there.

Granted, the original blend can be brought back...not formula 2.1, 2.2 !!!

My vote goes to:

Partagas Lonsdales

RA 898

Punch SS2

ERdM Gran Coronas

Punch RS11

. . . If rumour is correct then we will see both a Partagas Corona Extra next year and RA Belicoso following in general production . . .

Interesting about the RA Belicoso. I'm one of those who really enjoys the '05 UK version. Have not yet tried the current German release.

The question that springs to my mind is will the regular production (assuming it becomes reality) follow the UK blend or the German blend, which is reported to be stronger. Time will tell.

If nothing else - Punch Black Prince.

Rob, I heard that the new Partagas should be 140mm 54 ring cigar (same format as the RyJ Duke) and called Serie E No. 2. Also rumor has it that a new H.Upmann is coming out next year as well.

I haven't had the privelage of trying either but my question is why wouldn't the blend be the same and true to the marque? Why differ blends based on region?

I voted for:

ERDM - Grandes De Espana (the only cigar I repeatedly smoked in Cuba)

ERDM - Gran Corona

Partagas - SDC 1

Partagas - SDC 2

RA - 898

These are cigars I tried and really liked. I'd also love to know what the Partagas Lonsdale tasted like
