NCs in a 60 rg are fairly common these days. I personally will go no higher than a 56 rg. Even that is pushing it. My preference is 50 rg or lower.

***Which is exactly why I like Pyramides...you can have a 50 to 60 ring gauge and because it tapers so sweetly & nicely at the tip - you can comfortably enjoy! :D:D

I really do not prefer anything over 52, but I have had some larger ring gauge cigars.

I was given a 177.8 mm by 60 ring gauge cigar, and it was a mammoth. It took me at least 3 hours to smoke, and I was done after that.

One of the reasons for the shape chosen for the custom "Czar" is that it allows a 48-50 mid point gauge but a beautiful taper of 45-46. In effect an oversized Celestiales Fino.

I feel more comfortable with 46 gauge. 50 is OK. I struggle with anything over a 52.

I agree with you Rob, the 46 ring gauge is really the perfect size for me. I am really looking forward to the customs, how is the whole process going for you with those, and at how difficult is it working with them not being in the factory to taste blends and check on the whole process? Do you think you will have the opportunity to make it to Havana to see them making the Czar customs?

I also heard you might be stopping in North Carolina on your amerinan tour, is this true?!

The process is not ideal but I am working with good people. I am limited to checking updates in blend though samples sent and then suggested changes in leaf blend. long process. I would prefer to be in Havana doing it. A lot of the work was done while I was there in Feb

As for my American tour, small possible hiccup as my wife may need to go in for minor surgery September. Nothing major but she will be off her feet for two weeks. I find out in the next 10 days.

Gosh Rob, well I hope your wife is alright and hope it all goes well. That really sounds interesting in the blending process, do you have an idea on the leaf break up, and how much ligero, seco, or viso going in, and do you have that input?

Thanks for the good wishes. My wife deals with me daily...surgery is a walk in the park

Yes, I have the final say on the leaf breakup. We are currently experimenting with the Ligero (full leaf/half leaf/region etc).

hahah, too funny.

That is amazing, which area of Cuba has the best ligero in your opinion, or is it mostly in Pinar del Rio?

Either way, look forward to trying those customs out?

Hope it all goes well with your better half's surgery...

On the other hand, though I suspect that it won't happen until the bend is finalised, when are they expected to be rollin'em Czar customs?

Largest habano I smoke on a regular basis is the PSD4

Otherwise, 40-46rg is what I prefer the rest of the time.

I do smoke 47rg, but those are for special occasions.

Anything between 42-50 fits me pefectly. I find 40 to be to small, but enjoyable (Secretos). The CoRo is one of my favorites, but the Siglo II is my go-to cigar. I'm on a Cohiba kick right now

I have a couple PSP2s resting in the humi that I can't wait to try. They're huge compared to what I'm used to.

It's been a good 5 years since I bought a cigar over 49 RG,

and I still have most of the few robustos and petit robustos bought before.

I enjoy most everything else, from the 26 RG LGC #3, to the occasional DC.
