laficion Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 no contest. Ken, would you say like, well..... A Partagas Solomones vs Cuaba thing ??
jquest63 Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 That croc should pick on someone his own size, that looks like an really small shark.
Ken Gargett Posted June 23, 2010 Author Posted June 23, 2010 That croc should pick on someone his own size, that looks like an really small shark. probably five or six foot long. enough to make a mess of a human, especially as apparently it was a bull shark.
Ken Gargett Posted June 25, 2010 Author Posted June 25, 2010 A great white would kick it's arse. probably won't find a lot of great whites in the swamps of northern australia but out in the open ocean, where you do get a few crocs, i reckon i'd back the great white.

Don't know that you would find salties & great whites in the same waters, though I do remember seeing a documentary about some island chain in the tropics, and I think they said that when the crocs swam out into open ocean, they had to watch out for tiger sharks.

Ben Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 I think every animal in Afica knows better than to mess with a Hippo. That was just a baby too.

Just looking into the eyes of a shark brings the word 'Evil' to mind. Something about a pure black pupil freaks me out! Take a look at this evil beast, the Goblin Shark!
Disburden Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 What kind of shark was that? I am pretty sure the Croc would win anyway...I still think Great Whites are light years ahead in coolness and sheer terror factors. Cool pic!
MIKA27 Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 4m-long croc eats freshwater relative Source: Ninemsn.com.au A boatload of tourists was treated to a gruesome show when a monster saltwater crocodile made a snack out of a smaller relative in a Northern Territory swamp. Tourists took photographs as the creatures fought each other in the Adelaide Swamp, about 70km southeast of Darwin, last month, the NT News reports. The group was travelling with Wallaroo Eco Tours when guide and owner Adam Bowman saw the larger reptile lurking in the water. "Suddenly there they were — a 4m saltwater crocodile dragging a 2m freshwater crocodile around in the water," Mr Bowman was quoted as saying. The smaller crocodile tried to free itself but was trapped inside the larger reptile's jaws. "There was a fair bit of shaking going on, before they went underwater," Mr Bowman said. "The saltie would have ripped him to pieces."
Bill Hayes Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 it would be rare indeed for great whites and crocs to find themselves together. tiger sharks definitely and they really are the most evil sharks, if one can find evil in an animal. I've scuba dived and freedived with many 'men in grey suits' including white tip reef, black tip reef, grey whaler, silvertip, bull, hammerhead and tiger - especially while spearfishing with burley in the water. Had to fend off a 10 foot tiger shark in one encounter in the coral sea when I got separated from the group. One thing's for sure, you never take your eye off them. They continually try and get behind you. But only the tiger has viewed me as a possible food source. They tend to try and nudge you to find out if you're edible or they take an enquiry bite which wouldn't end too well. But they are simply an opportunist hunter that's role is to clean up the reef of anything sick, young and dumb or injured or silly enough to get separated. Most reef and grey whalers act as pack animals like dogs but without much co-operation. They are basically cowards and if you stare at them they freak out because it doesn't happen much to them. I love sharks. And feel privaleged to have seen them up close, especially the tigers even though they pinch your fish. Hate crocs though. Probably because I haven't been exposed to them. And have no intention to either. The croc farm in Cairns was enough to send a chill up my spine. Great whites are a different kettle of fish again. They hunt mammals like seals and we look like injured seals in water to them. In these waters and low visibility I wear a shark shield electric pulse device. Don't think you'd get a great white and a croc. Most likely to be bull sharks who like shallow reefs and estuaries and low visibility water. I reckon I'd back the croc unless the shark was bigger and came out of nowhere, probably a charge from below which tigers do on occasion, although they usually patrol back and forth, getting closer and closer and then suddenly roll and charge. I know this one first hand. If that's the case I'd pick the croc if they were both the same weight.
