El Presidente Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 First review post Ken's near death surgery experience. Not sure he adds much.
LiLo Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 that bird scared the sh*T out of me. What the hell was it?

dochowl Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 sadly, the only native birds we have around here (Los Angeles area) are pigeons and crows. Good review. Glad to see the 2008s are looking up. Like you, Prez, the last 4 or 5 of these I've had have been less than stellar.
Bartolomeo Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 The SMG APR 08 I had from Czar were superb, thanks for the review. So damn expensive but sounds like a box to put away for special occasions Bart
PADDYWHACK121272 Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Great review as usual - have generally stayed away from Linea Clasica Cohibas in favor of more recent releases - they just have a cloud of inconsistency hanging over them in my mind...is it time for more video reviews of the classics to see if there is a comeback underway?... I'm doing this for you Ken...still have nightmares about the JLP experience Btw - what are those Nashville sounds in the background at 1.10....always find a bit of pedal steel creates a conducive smoking atmosphere....
finecigar Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Excellent review for an excellent cigar. I'm with Ken on this one, never have had a bad experience with an Esplendido! I have rated many in the lower to mid 90s.
BobLobLaw Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 This is the exact code of a box I have sitting in the OHS! Can't watch at work, but hope the review ends with something like "fantastic now, will evolve into magnificent cigars in 5-10 years . . ."
matthew261 Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Dear Rob and Chip, Thanks for yet another great review. Haven't tried an Esplendido, but the 08s are obviously worth a go...now...just have to search the sofa for some extra coin.
Geo17pip Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Ken: What i used to describe that aaaahh old ladys handbag aroma.... Rob: yea, but you... you'd know. haha Nice review!
stargazer14 Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Very nice. I only have 2 of these sticks(07's I think) but have enough fakes to almost make up a whole box! I may have to make a purchase of these soon.
thechenman Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 While I am not one that is big on box codes...I too happen to have a box of these with the same code in my OHS.
PartagasIV Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 I have an MEL Oct08 coming my way that I hope is just as good as these.
perfectform Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Must have read my mind. I was just thinking a couple days ago why there wasn't a video review of the king of kings. I too have an MEL SEP 08 box in the locker, just bought a couple days ago. To me, it is the quintessential cuban cigar, the most counterfeited cigar, and the envy of all churchills...sorry Sir Winston!
hsmunoz Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 I am a big fan of this cigar with at least 5 yrs on them. 7yrs is even better!
riderpride Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Thanks for the review; good to hear the '08s are smoking well.
coocooforroo Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 It's a fake 'cause it's good....great line...my experience lately as well.
Van55 Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Just checked the box code on the box I got from ClubCzar awhile ago. MEL May08. Sounds good. Rob, as a matter of curiosity, would the box you pulled the reviewed cigars from be rated Standard, HW or Premium Select?

mkz Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Great review guys!! I guess I´ll eventually have to try one of these "legendary" cigars... And Ken... Kudos to anyone recovering from surgery with a glass of Johnny Walker and a Cigar!!!
