Ken Gargett Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 i know it is a quirky and weird show but i reckon it is terrific stuff. any other fans out there? we've just finished the second season. hoping a few more to come.
jeromeroselli Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Havent been able to get into Dexter... But when my wife and I found LOST, I think we watched 3 seasons worth in 1 week. We'd stay up until 4am watching the DVDs. I've been looking for a new tv series on dvd. I'll check out Dexter.. Anyone have any other suggestions?
Colt45 Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 KG, no surprise to me that you find this program stimulating...... Jerome, I don't know if you've seen any of it, but I found myself enjoying Entourage - don't ask me why. Weeds is a bit entertaining as well.

Guest rob Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Some friends I have in the US recommended I watch a show called "the Wire" - we haven't seen it here yet, but it is available on DVD - what do you guys reckon?
tucomapache Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Dexter is great! I can't wait for the new season to start. I would start from season 1 to get the whole story about him. Enjoy...
mm12 Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Some friends I have in the US recommended I watch a show called "the Wire" - we haven't seen it here yet, but it is available on DVD - what do you guys reckon? IMO, The Wire is by far the best television series I've ever seen. I highly recommend it, but it's one of those shows you really need to watch all the way through. Some might find it a bit slow or boring in the beginning, but if you stick with it, I think you'll be blown away. It's really literature posing as a cop show. Dexter is pretty good too. I don't know about the availability of the show on DVD, but there's been 3 seasons aired so far, and the fourth is scheduled to air this coming fall.

(now that buffy has finished).
Ethernut Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 My favorite modern tv show aired only one season. Firefly To wrap up the loose ends, they made the movie Serenity, if you havent seen it, dont, buy the Firefly DVD's and watch them, then watch serenity. Best character development I've ever seen in such a short time.. The best writing i've ever seen too.. Ether
Jimmy2 Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 GREAT SHOW Ken !!!! If i liked to kill people i would want to be just like him !!! We need more people like him
mongboy Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Some friends I have in the US recommended I watch a show called "the Wire" - we haven't seen it here yet, but it is available on DVD - what do you guys reckon? "The Wire", fantastic show ! I believe the ABC will screen it later this year (in Aus.) but it really is worthwhile getting the DVDs. Very gritty and realistic with a lot of dark humour and great acting. I like what I have seen of "Dexter" too. But as always the TV networks have dicked around with it endlessly. Showing it one week, not the next, different timeslots etc...

pizzaguy Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 GREAT SHOW Ken !!!! If i liked to kill people i would want to be just like him !!! We need more people like him reaffirms my observations about you... dexter 30 rock arrested development the office (us) the wire entourage weeds Lost all great shows imo, prison break was awful after the first 1, maybe 2 seasons

Guest rob Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Good thread Ken. I was always a big fan of Twin Peaks. NYPD Blue was always a favourite as well. And for some reason I always enjoyed The Practice. But since then, the main TV shows to get my full and undivided attention have been: * Deadwood * The Sopranos * The Shield Some others I never saw on TV but bought as DVD sets have been: * Carnivale * Six Feet Under
JMH Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 I watched the first two seasons, but didn't get into the third when they played it recently. 30 rock, arrested development, scrubs, and entourage are all favourites. I think arrested development would be the funniest series I've ever seen.
anacostiakat Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 i know it is a quirky and weird show but i reckon it is terrific stuff. any other fans out there?we've just finished the second season. hoping a few more to come. John Lithgow will be in all 12 episodes of the new Dexter season playing the Trinity serial killer and Dexter's new nemesis!!! Great show! The Wire was an excellent show and I highly recommend it. Same for Deadwood. Check out True Blood!!!! Great new show on HBO returning this coming month. A quirky vampire show set in Louisiana.
MIKA27 Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 I love Dexter, one of my favourite shows by far and I'm looking forward to season 4. I also enjoy Nip Tuck, Fringe, CSI (Original) and lastly NCIS. My hates would have to be; Lost (How boring), CSI New York, and my wife loves Greys Anatomy (I run as soon as I hear the opening credits!!)
Bill Hayes Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Yeah, love the idea behind Dexter. It takes a few eps to get into but is pretty addictive. I also like the Shield and Madmen and need to get into The Wire.
SofaKing Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Absolutely love this show very well written, Michael Hall plays this character brilliantly.
dizedean Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 If you all have an opportunity to see "The Wire" do so. Some of the best TV to come out of America. Was overshadowed by "The Sopranos" as they ran during the same years. But is probably every bit as good.
Taino Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 and BOSTON LEGAL ?!?! no fans?! damn lineal people!, besides denny crane ans alan shore smoked cigars at the end I would've expected some sympathy towards fellow smokers...
GoSteelers Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 Season Finale was Sunday, if you haven't been watching "Breaking Bad" on AMC you have been missing out! Somewhat like Weeds but with a large dose of some pretty harsh reality. Oh yeah, I love Dexter
