PigFish
This is bound to stir up the natives... "Cigars go through one or more vacuum (sick) periods." "Next year (any year) cigars will come with candela wrappers." "Every cigar is draw tested." "EL's are superior to regular production." "Cigars boxed in the years '99, '00' and '03 are no good" (not that I don't admit they had some problems) "Boxes should be wrapped in plastic to limit air to the cigars." "Cuban cigars should be stored a 70% RH." "Certain Habanos wholesalers get better cigars." "I have a no-quibble return policy." "These were rolled by XXX roller." "These are XXX overruns." "No one buys small ring cigars!" "Large ring cigars have a fuller flavor." "The Monte 4 is a lousy cigar because it is over-produced." "Cigars put in cabinets are superior to those in dress boxes." "They purposely put inferior cigars in tubes because you can't see them." "You should have waited to smoke that cigar. Bad cigars become good cigars over time." "Cigars should be spongy." "Light colored wrappers make mild cigars." "The wrapper is 50% the cigars flavor." "Cigars in cardboard are no good." ... I think I could go on for ever. neal875
Of course 25% of the box is completely plugged--after all Cuban Cigars are a hand rolled product and subject to human flaws.
Ken Gargett
Of course 25% of the box is completely plugged--after all Cuban Cigars are a hand rolled product and subject to human flaws. that isn't true? rob keeps telling me that is true. i've often wondered about the cabs v boxes as it does seem to be something there - no idea why - but it could be power of suggestion. rob, perhaps for the vid, we should smoke a box versus cab cigar blind? the white ash one is interesting. i heard that in the early days and was told it was because cuban soil (go, jimmy) either had phosphorus or didn't have it (or posssibly magnesium or something else). i had no reason to disbelieve it at the time but i was buggered if i could ever see much difference. Good idea Ken. How about the Bolivar CE´s? Hard to find dressboxed ones without the charasteristic boxpress though...
Habanos2000
the white ash one is interesting. i heard that in the early days and was told it was because cuban soil (go, jimmy) either had phosphorus or didn't have it (or posssibly magnesium or something else). i had no reason to disbelieve it at the time but i was buggered if i could ever see much difference. I've found in my experience that NC's had a much whiter ash than any CC I've smoked. As far as white ash indicating a superior product, I see no connection whatsoever. semery74
Cuban soil contains excess Lithium and that is the secret behind why some people say it's the "soil".
