The Trifecta:

Win: Dunkirk

Place: I Want Revenge

Show: Desert Party

I love the Derby (and all horse racing) but my wife is dragging me to a wedding so I will definitely miss it this year. Usually watch it with a big cigar and a bunch of bourbon.

I think Friesan Fire is going to be hard to beat in the slop. He had a sloppy track when he took the Louisiana Derby by over 7 lengths. I'm going to throw in Desert Party and Papa Clem to round out the top three.

Win - (6) Friesan Fire

Place - (19) Desert Party

Show - (7) Papa Clem

Either way you gotta love watching it!

I really like horses, so I watch the races - but I don't really follow the ponies. But..........

Two, three, four, and even five year olds are not completely mature physically. Racing

and the required training puts quite a bit of stress on these animals. In that sense, I

loathe it.

Yes, my hypocrisy knows no bounds :P

Funny I was at the Barber today and he asked who I was picking for the derby. I replied, "the big brown dog"! He said, I didn't know there was one named "big brown dog". I said, "there isn't, that's just what they all look like to me"..

I live in Kentucky, so I should have a favorite.. but I dont..

And the 50-1 shot takes it. Amazing. He weaved through the lane like the other horses were stuck in quick sand.

Great horse and a great ride by Borel. Imagine, a $9,500 gelding, trailered to the race by his trainer.

I loved how the horse looked while he was being led around after the race - body calm, ears up, eyes

ahead. Totally alert and looking like he was ready for action.
