chuck1rar Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Have not come across this before and was thinking if anyone else has.. Have a box from TEB Oct 07, smoked 4 so far and all have been terrible draw and this one had a dead stem. Had me stumped in the beginning, trying to cut the damn thing and was like cutting thru wood. Maybe I should have lit it up and see where it went but after 3 being disappointing so decided to take it apart. Ended up only being an inch of hard stem, ended up trying to roll it again, was an experience in itself and now I truly appreciate the skill of the rollers much harder to roll than it looks. Have another box and hope this will live up to the reputation
sounddust Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 That's terrible to see and hear about, especially from a relatively expensive and limited production cigar.
Padrino Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 That is just so wrong on so many levels.... It just makes me angry. Dropping all that cash and you end up with shite, high-end shite. In my books there should be a replacement box from Habanos S.A. on principle alone. They just don't care. (My rant is directed at Habanos S.A. only)
bassman Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Uncalled for in a high end product. So far, the 06s I've smoked have been flawless.
aavkk Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 I think I have a few 07 singles but like Bassman my 06's are outstanding.
Professor Twain Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Mine are POS AG 06 from the Czar and they are outstanding.
Ken Gargett Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 very sad. let us know how the other box goes. i've got a bucket load of these and they have been terrific so far. i think it is one of the best of the RR's.

I have tried two from a POS SEP06 box. One was tight but smokeable. I put them back away.
craigos Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Got 2 boxes of the POS Sep 06 - aint touching them til 2012.
FlyFishingDude Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Got 2 boxes of the POS Sep 06 - aint touching them til 2012. According to "Armageddon Weekend" on the Discovery channel, we might not be around come 2012, so you better get to smoking them.......

Also POS '06
anacostiakat Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Time will tell but this is a prime reason I just don't jump at all these high priced sprecial releases.
kjellfrick Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 I have to chime in on the lousy draw. I'm smoking one right now, but that is the result of a thin drill and some poking with a cigar tool! The taste is good with plenty of fruity sweetness, but there is a sour note creeping in at times which I attribute to the artificial and restricted draw. The whole box (2006) seems full of hard sticks...A shame really...they are stunningly tasty when they draw.
Guest rob Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Ive got quite a few of these (all '06) and most have been fine as far as draw goes. But I must admit I have been a little disappointed with my last two - they were extremely firm draws and the smoke volume was very thin. It's weird - blowing through them the draw seems fine... but sucking through them was nearly impossible.

zuma Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 It's weird - blowing through them the draw seems fine... but sucking through them was nearly impossible. It must be an exceptional cigar, requiring the head to be lit and smoked through the foot...
