Something inspirational for a lazy sunday

Seeing the rolling eyes and ridicule and laughter at her expense when this 'frumpy' (as described by The Times) woman 1st came out on stage - and then watching her deflect some of the condescending questions (so you want to be a singer...why hasn't it happened for you yet???) and then hearing the audience laugh at her when she said she wants to be the next Elaine Paige....... none of that stopped Susan from wiping those know-it-all grins off all their faces and bring the entire audience to their feet in wild applause and cheering.... she sang that song as well or better than I heard it done on Broadway while attending Les Mis.......

There is no way to watch this video and not be moved by it..... Thanks for sharing this link with us Rob.....

I have always loved this song from Les Mis.

I dreamed a dream in time gone by

When hope was high

And life worth living

I dreamed that love would never die

I dreamed that God would be forgiving.

Then I was young and unafraid

And dreams were made and used

And wasted

There was no ransom to be paid

No song unsung

No wine untasted.

But the tigers come at night

With their voices soft as thunder

As they tear your hope apart

As they turn your dream to shame.

And still

I dream he’ll come to me

That we will live the years together

But there are dreams that cannot be

And there are storms

We cannot weather…

I had a dream my life would be

So different form this hell I’m living

so different now from what it seemed

Now life has killed

The dream I dreamed.

Everytime I read these words, tears roll down my cheeks:

I dreamed a dream in time gone by

When hope was high

And life worth living

I dreamed my youth would never die

I dreamed I'd find a way to make a living.

Then I was dumb and unafraid

And grapes were crushed and used

And wasted

There was no ransom to be paid

No Springsteen song unplayed

No Aussie wine untasted.

But the hangovers come at dawn

The headaches pound like thunder

As they tear my hopes apart

As they turn my dreams to shame.

And still

I dream she’ll come to me

That we will live the years together

But there are dreams that cannot be

And there are storms

I cannot weather…

I had a dream my life would be

So different form this hell I’m living

so different now from what it seemed

Now wine has killed

The dream I dreamed.

Scottish Singer's Audition Video Sets Online Record

Susan Boyle's Performance Viewed Over 66 Million Times In One Week
By Jose Antonio VargasWashington Post Staff Writer

Sunday, April 19, 2009; 7:29 AM

Susan Boyle is headed for the history books.

The online video of Boyle's performance in the reality show "Britain's Got Talent" has set the record for the number of views in a week -- and shows no sign of stopping.

According to Visible Measures, which tracks videos from YouTube, MySpace and other video-sharing sites, Boyle's audition has generated 66.3 million views. On YouTube alone, it's been viewed more than 30 million times. The 7-minute video that was posted on YouTube last Saturday and then widely circulated online easily eclipsed more high-profile videos that have been around for months. Tina Fey's impersonation of Sarah Palin has clocked in 34.2 million views, said the folks at Visible Measures, while President Obama's victory speech on election night has generated 18.5 million views. In less than a week, Boyle topped them.

But it's not just online video where Boyle, the unassuming woman from a tiny Scottish town, has dominated. Over the weekend, her Facebook fan page was flooded with comments, at some points adding hundreds of new members within a minute. The page listed 150,000 members on 1 p.m. Friday. It grew to 850,000 by 6 a.m. Sunday. Her Wikipedia entry has attracted nearly half a million page views since it was created last Sunday.

ad_label_leftjust.gifif ( show_doubleclick_ad && ( adTemplate & INLINE_ARTICLE_AD ) == INLINE_ARTICLE_AD && inlineAdGraf ){placeAd('ARTICLE',commercialNode,20,'inline=y;',true) ;}Indeed, the Internet is her stage, and the 47-year-old who has said she's never heard of YouTube is the Web's hottest entertainer. "She's really the world's singer right now," said Julie Supan, a YouTube spokesperson who in her four years at the company cannot remember a video raking in this many views in such a period of time.

One view at a time, Boyle's audience is proving that the social Web -- where users aren't just mere viewers but also distributers -- makes the digital world feel smaller and more connected. And her global popularity is a testament that the marriage between old media (her performance first aired on Britisn television) and new media (it then made its way to YouTube, Twitter and Facebook) is broadening the reach of all media, from one channel to the next, one person at a time.

As a result, at any given moment, someone is passing along Boyle online.

She also sang "Cry Me a River" on a cd for the millennium celebration in 1999.

Hopefully, someone will pull her off the tv show and get her into a recording

studio.

if you watch the clip, it throws up a link to it. suspect she will be the hottest thing going for recording now.

You could see on their faces the exact moment that they stopped judging a book and fell in love with it's contents.

We are all so superficial at times , we think that only beautiful people have something to offer.

Susan knows that she won't win a beauty contest but she also knows that she has more to contribute than that.

I wish her all the happiness and perhaps that first kiss also.
