Hi everyone,

Please do not take this too personal, It's just my 2 cents.

I think that we covered about every aspect of the suject AND Jimmy2 finished it off

with style. so, that's It Right ? We are not going to start to justifiy why we love Habanos.

I hope, like Colt said on a theard, that we are not going to do the same BS as on the other Forums.

WE HAVE NOTHING TO PROVE. This forum is unique, let's keep It that way.

Let's talk about Habanos, good, great or bad. NC 's are on another planet. Let's not get too far from

what this forum is all about and why we are different from the others. n nuff is n nuff.

Let's get back to talking about CIGARS not candy. :2thumbs:

Guy, you're a good man - thanks for starting another NC vs. CC thread :2thumbs:

If I may add one thing - I know we have some members who are fairly new to Cuban cigars. I'm sure they have an awful lot of questions,

and I would not want to scare anybody away from asking them. I think the recent ones have been valid, but I also feel that newcomers might be

a little better off trying to focus more on Havanas rather than trying to relate them to cigars from elsewhere. Kind of like learning a new language,

you are often better off immersing yourself and not trying to constantly make correlations to another language.

Well said Colt

and the end of the day we are all B.O.T.L but in this particular case F.O.H trumps all

I rest my case court adjourned :2thumbs:

Thanks colt, your're absolutly right. My intent was not to offend anyone.

Of course I would love to welcome all the newcomers with as much respect and enjoyment as I was

when I joined. I think your example of language was right on the nail, It's always better to immers

in a new lanuage then always asking to translate without trying to understand. I think that, If you come

to this forum, It's to ask a lot of questions on a subject that interests you and not to convert anyone.

So, To all the newcomers, Welcome 100 times and ask all the questions you want about CARS, but

If your a BICYCLE person, well then your on the wrong page. :ok: CIO

I like a good steak better than I like fish (not all fish, mind you,) but sometimes I'm in the mood for fish. I have some very good friends who hate fish. If we go out to dinner and I think about ordering fish, they invariably start with how they don't like fish, then they go on about how bad it is, how they can't stand the smell, yadda, yadda, yadda... The conversation starts out with our own opinions on the foods, then moves to who is right and who is wrong, then ends up with who's crazy and who has no taste. But in the end, I'm not going to convince them to eat fish and they aren't going to convince me not to. Now in truth none of us are really crazy, we just have different tastes.

Colt and laficion both make good points. In short, if you're in a steakhouse you concentrate on the steak. This is Friends of Habanos, so I for one am going to quit talking about NC's.

Edit: SCREW BICYCLES!

Last I heard there was no rule limiting our conversations here to cigars or to Cuban cigars. Nor should there be, in my opinion.

This place is like a cigar lounge to me -- a place to join friends and others who happen to smoke cigars and to talk about current events, sex, poker or whatever the hell else may be brought up. Telling people they shouldn't discuss non-Cuban cigars here is a bit elitist and rude, even if it's well-intentioned as I am sure it is in this case.

I have no doubt that if Rob wanted no Cubans vs. non-Cubans discussions he or the moderators would take appropriate action.

It's been said before, smoke what you like and like what you smoke!

That's true, but I don't think anybody is trying to tell anybody else what they can or can't talk about - merely point out that in the end, discussions

trying to directly compare the two end up in futility.

And for what it's worth the forum name is

I suppose that if I wanted to learn about porsches, I could go and ask questions on a ferrari forum - after all, they are both car forums.

Well said again, my friend.

Look, this is a public cigar board. You will have new people and they will post about what they want, you will say I am not going to give my opinion about this again, someone else will, you will break down and post, probably sarcastically, this will happen again, and again, and again..... It is just the way it works.

I am not at all offended by people wanting to compare cigars. This is a cigar board, albeit a Cuban cigar board. New people always bring in new questions, albeit the same old ones. I think they have to expect that some people will take them up on their questions and others will have Casper the friendly ghost analogies. That's life. I won't get offended if they bring up the same old tripe, if they won't get offended when I reply the same old response, if I even bother. A first post with a bunch of humidor rats watching may make the newcomer a bit anxious and I think that it is okay for people to find their sea legs.

I don't know about you guys but I don't want to be the one in control of topics. I am already hawkish on politics and religion as you know. Each member should work that out on their own. Topics with little interest die with few replies. I can't tell you how many topics I don't even open if the titles don't interest me. I would rather ramble on (don't you know it?) about an interesting topic and write an hour than I would post to lesser interest topics with lesser replies.

There is a nice side to having new members. If you are in the mood to take one by the hand you can perhaps shape their future cigar life, the option is yours. They do bring about a sense of spirit which is sometimes refreshing when it is not nauseatingly filled with NC comparisons!

Overall I think having new blood is a good thing. Now I am going to post about non-Cuban cigars on the Porsche forum! -LOL Just my 2cents. -Piggy

I would like to see members post what they want to regarding cigars and I think if a post is uninteresting it will die a peaceful death. To Guy's point, we've covered the CC vs. NC comparisons recently to the point that it will probably (hopefully) settle down now.

Although in the US, comparisons will always be of interest to the few that don't have easy access to Habanos or are getting their feet wet in trying to find out what the magic a Cuban cigar is about. No harm in that, I've been there.

Absolutely! New members, especially those new to Habanos, should have no apprehension about asking any question, voicing their

opinions, or feeling they have to earn any kind of "stripes".

I have sinned, mentioning a NC in another post. I especially feel bad during this holy week.

Is it okay if I talk about cuban seed cigars?

Please don't take me seriously.

Spot on^^^

I have only been a member of this board a short time, but I will tell you, I find the CC vs NC threads silly. You are comparing apples and oranges and then deciding good and bad. No logic to that whatsoever.

+ IT'S THE SOIL!!!! :)

...you take your eye off the ball for a couple of days B)

FOH is like the old show "Cheers" but as as a cigar Bar (Ken = Norm) :D

True understanding of the world of cigars requires an understanding (in my opinion anyway) of Non Habanos and Habanos. That is not to say one cannot be a Habanophile and be as close to an expert on Cuban cigars as possible. It does not make him an expert on NC's. Vice versa applies.

Having said that I am no expert on either. I still learn or get an insight into something new every week.

I have no problem at all in the discussion of NC's on this board from time to time. What I would like is intelligent discussion...if you like a certain NC...why. If not...why not.

I have bagged many Cuban cigars mercilessly in reviews over the years. I hope that when I have the reasons why I have......have been clearly specified. There have been challenges to my reviews....as there should be! This is what FOH is all about. Discussion of cigars and life with laughter and insight.

FOH is very much a culture. There are some great boards out there and we may be one of them but what we do have is our own culture built up over time.

Remember: "Friendship, Laughter, Loyalty, Fraternity....life is not a dress reheasal."

Let your posts reflect the above. If there ever comes a time that you think a post you are about to make may cross a line.....run the above through your mind.

Jesus... I don't belong here. What ever happened to, "irreverence, inebriation and infidelity?" -LOL

This forum is about cigars!?!?

With all the sexually ambiguous posts, I thought FOH stood for Friends of Homosexuals  ...not that there's anything wrong with that! :P
