sounddust Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Finally conned this from my LCDH today (I was anxious): Good news: BCEs will still be around, albeit in 25s only. However, Punch SS No.1s are extinct, as are the Hupmann Monarchas. Not to mention the Bolivar Inmensas and Bonitas. What surprised me the most was the fact that the redoubtable JLP marque will more or less be killed off, considering that these bad boys apparently generate plenty of revenue for HSA. This list of course, will have to be confirmed with Rob's before any final confirmations of extinction may be made. Prez, Trevor et al, please let me know if there are any errors on this list. For everyone's info please.
Padrino Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 They kill off the Punch SS No.1 yet the entire Fonseca line just somehow survives
Tampa1257 Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 I always cry when I see one of these lists, so many cigars going bye, bye. So many good cigars going into the history books.................

smokem Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 It's been talked about the Bolivar Inmensas going, so I finally ordered a box. They probably would be worth a pretty penny if I held onto them, but of course I will smoke them.
BluesTiger Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Please forgive me if this is a dumb question, but does this mean every item listed will no longer be made? I see a few I love on that list! Thanks
PartagasIV Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 For the Piedras, I take the 'BUN CEL' to mean they are only eliminating the cellophane bundles of 25; this would mean they are keeping the cardboard 5x5's? I'm disappointed about the Lunch Clubs, the SS1, and the Boli CE cabs.
Ginseng Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Sonuvabitch! Monte Joyitas, ERdM Lunch Clubs, and 50-cab of the Boli CEs? I say again, sonuvabitch! :tantrum: Wilkey
ndtoronto Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Does this mean they are getting rid of the Vegas Robaina- Don Alejandro cigars if so I'll take 2 boxes right now
Trevor2118 Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 My reading of this is that only the highlighted items are deleted. The others are still available, however this is clearly not a full stock list.

I say again, sonuvabitch! :tantrum: Wilkey From the list, only the packs of 5 Monte Joyitas are deleted........however this list may only be whats left for this LCDH to order. The B25 may be finished. Rob apparently has a full list of deletions but is embargoed at the moment.
El Presidente Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Since it is out there the list is accurate although there is a rearguard action going to save a few of them. Keep in mind CP5 refers to carton packs. It is a disgrace.

El Presidente Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Just to clarify....is it the highlighted items in the list....or the whole list Whole List. Again many are in CP5 or 50 format. There are 5 being fought for.
greenpimp Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Wow so in addition to all the other carnage the LeHoyo is decimated, along with VR Famosos and Clasicos? Unreal...
El Presidente Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Wow so in addition to all the other carnage the LeHoyo is decimated, along with VR Famosos and Clasicos? Unreal... Le Hoyo is indeed decimated. VR Famosos and Clasicos only in the Carton Pack format.
greenpimp Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Le Hoyo is indeed decimated. VR Famosos and Clasicos only in the Carton Pack format. OK thanks Rob. Frankly there are many irreplaceable cigars on the cut list for me. The SS1, Immensas, BCE, Hoyo du Prince and Des Dieux, Upmann Monarcas, just to name a few. I smoke all these cigars regularly and cannot think of an adequate replacement for any of them. Sad.
El Presidente Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Bolivar Corona Extra will be available in 25's as will the HDM Du Prince and Des Dieux. That took some fighting (Thank Punch Joe). In fact the original list submitted was double in size. Punch Petit Punch, Punch Super Seleccion No 1 are two of my favourites ......and the Punch Corona hurts, hurts, hurts!

Well thank God and Punch Joe then! I didn't even see the Punch PC dammit! Love that cigar, only have one box left. And I just looked again and saw the Partagas PCE, which I have been hitting hard the past couple years. Dammit. The death of the corona is a whole other subject that brings me pain. I love the size. Hopefully it will become popular again one day. Thanks for the info Rob.

qman22 Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Thanks for the list...I can't believe how long it is. We do have the Montecristo Open to look forward to
sounddust Posted March 9, 2009 Author Posted March 9, 2009 Rob, any idea on why the JLPs are killed off? I couldn't care less about the marque but am intrigued on why HSA would do that. Also, don't worry Rob. I don't think you will be getting much competition for these beauties(from my LCDH at least) as they seem content to just get rid of their inventory from 3-4 years back... I know where I'll be getting my '08 Punch SS No.1s then...
Jimmy2 Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Punch Super Seleccion No 1 will it be saved Rob is it one that is being fought for? This is the last of old school Cuban flavor the 07 /08 are so strong and earthy just an excellant cigar.
PigFish Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 ... no Rob I am not going to add to the bitching. I assume that you will do whatever is in your power to save my cigar world! I see the Party Lonsdales in flats is on the list. When was the last time those were produced, do you know?
