Miami101 Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Well I found this little guy lurking around my humidor, and kind of thought it was funny. As you know I tried my 1st cigar when I was five thanks to my grandfather who thought it would be funny. Remember for Cuban people the cigar is also something related to sprits. We also sometimes light a good cigar and offer it to family who have died, or sprits. I grow up around cigars, and it is almost a custom to smoke a cigars on life events. Yes even some of the old women that come over pick up a cigar some times. I look forward to 18-24 years from now to have my 1st cigar with my son, and maybe even one from the year he was born.
Ginseng Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Cute kid! He's going to be a real heartbreaker some day. Wilkey
KB24 Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 I love the idea of having boxes from the year something important happens in your life. I plan on purchasing 2 boxes this year Monte #2 and RyJ Churchill in honor of 2009, the year my first child will be born. Hopefully I get a baby boy so we can enjoy cigars together when he's 16-18 years old. -P
Chicago Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Yes, the beetles are getting larger and stronger with each passing year. I suggest you seek professional help with this one! A very handsome young man.
Tampa1257 Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Great thoughts for a special time in the future with your son! Until then, make sure you keep the humidor locked!
terrantheman Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Kids are wonderful and the most important thing I think is to not forget how to have fun with them! Have fun with your son and it will pay off for you when you're enjoying those cigars with him one day especially the one from when he was born.
mbrody Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Great pic...my little one is about to turn one! I never knew how great it would be to be a father until the day my son was born. Good luck and God Bless...
Professor Twain Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Outstanding! I enjoyed my first cigars with my sons when they were 12 and 15, on a vacation in England. We smoked RJ Petit Coronas on a London rooftop on the 4th of July. While they were teenagers I made it a special treat for them to have cigars with me on occasion. It was a great chance to spend some quiet time with my sons. It is a tradition that has continued while they have become adults.

Your thoughts are very nice and I think especially sweet as when it comes to gifting your son with a cigar made the year he was born! My father gave me on my 30th birthday a bottle of whisky bottled the very same year I was born Whisky doen't age in a bottle but a cigar does (not in a bottle but well you got my point), so it could be really nice to do so. And I also liked you mentioning the relationship between cigar smoke and spirituality, as I really agree and have often seen the use of cigars in spiritual practises. And hello to your very nice child!!
