El Presidente Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Upfront, I would like to apologize to Michael and Johnny Gambaro of Gambaro's seafood restaurant for the behaviour of my staff and friends I try to run a respectable function Met Ken at Gambaro' s at 11:30 am. Ken "Seymour Skinner" Gargett said his mum wouldn't let him out to play but I did appreciate him coming out for a pre lunch drink. Looking at his shirt I assume he was working as a table cloth at an Italian restaurant later that afternoon Lunch was to be a celebration of a good but tough year at a local landmark with close firends. 20 turned up the Friday before Christmas. I still swear that Lisa and Diana can not be sisters. I love both these girls. Shagga Bowden and Phil Ball. Reprobates if ever there were. Steve and Smithy........Master and the apprentice. Minismithy (Simon) and Diana. He has an thing for Mature women. Rob's Angels......Diana, Lisa and my Accountant Dina. Between them they could send me broke quicker than having Madoff as a financial advisor. Lunch was copious wine, Lobster and Mudcrab. We had arranged a private deck next to our table for cigars (the recent great Cohiba Robusto's). The crew got to thinking. We all agreed what needed to be done! An Armwrestle competition!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First up was Diana and Phil.........Check out those guns on Diana She then got a little ove rconfident.........she didn't beat me by much Then it just got out of control All was going well until we broke the table The next part of the evening was a bit of a blur. I am not sure if we got kicked out or whether we left under own steam. We did however at some time end up at Dean's Staff Coffee Christmas function which was a Lawn bowls night The angle of this last shot may lead credence to the fact I took the last photo A great day/night was had by all evidenced by the fact my wife has stil not spoken to me. Thanks to all friends who shared a very special and loooooooooooooong day
kjellfrick Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 You people sure know how to throw a party, Rob! Never seen lawn bowl before...is it some pedestrian version of cow bingo?
shrink Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 The angle of this last shot may lead credence to the fact I took the last photo Tilting the camera won't cause the balls to roll in the desired direction. Or does it? Simply marvelous function, Rob. You set a new standard in extravagant self-indulgence. One to which I will always aspire.
Tampa1257 Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Rob, you are truly a wonder................ A wonder that you are still alive and that you are still Married! Looks like a great party and Merry Christmas to everyone!
Ken Gargett Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 guess who was due at my place next day, returning some gear, in the morning (sadly, a previous event meant i could not stay for caligula's latest). turned up about 2pm and when offered a cigar, promptly went deep green, jumped back in the P76 or whatever it is he drives, and raced off in a cloud of smoke (not cigar).
Ken Gargett Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 A wonder that you are still alive and that you are still Married! actually, tampa, i'm beginning to think that may be he isn't. no one has ever met this mythical wife and in all seriousness, is there a woman on this planet that tolerant? i think he borrows kids from the local juvenile detention centre on some big brother day release scheme, takes a few photos, and makes the rest up.
Guest rob Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 DAMN! That is seriously my ideal all day Christmas party. The lawn bowls in particular is an awesome way to finish up. Seriously... that's my dream day. ... and PJ must be doing it tough... he seems to have lost about 15kg
Don Candido Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 I have never lawn bowled, but I think there is a place near me where one can do it. I never considered it to the kind of place to go after a day of drinking, eating, smoking and drinking, but it looked like a fun way to round out the day. Well done.
Trevor2118 Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 I just love this shot of Warren.......multitasking.........cigar in mouth, beer in one hand, ball in the other....
Colt45 Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 I just love this shot of Warren.......multitasking.........cigar in mouth, beer in one hand, ball in the other.... I like this one of Warren - you know he's up to something, and you know it's no good: »
Warren Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 I just love this shot of Warren.......multitasking.........cigar in mouth, beer in one hand, ball in the other.... Yes but what happened next was my beer went down the green and the ball broke my teeth. I think at that point I was breaking every rule of the Bowls Club. There was a little Indian man who kept coming up and saying " I'm sorry sir but you can not smoke there" He was a very patient man.
Warren Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 I like this one of Warren - you know he's up to something, and you know it's no good:» Colt , Mate , you must have me confused with someone else.
bolivr Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Great entertainment I was thinking though, you guys have so much fun through the year that how do you top it off? Well, keep up the good work And thanks for all your good work through the year
Trevor2118 Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Rob & Ken at the Christmas party in 20 years time?????????????
PDC1 Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Rob & Ken at the Christmas party in 20 years time????????????? Geez, Ken hasn't changed much but, Rob is showing the awesome ravages of time & excess.
Ginseng Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Simply marvelous function, Rob. You set a new standard in extravagant self-indulgence. One to which I will always aspire. I second that! Wilkey
terrantheman Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 Merry Christmas! I don't think they sell lawn bowling in the states. I like bean bags or some call it corn hole. Also like horse shoes and massive amounts of drinking and smoking!
