Guest
Good company. I love snakes... but I must admit the 2 meter brown snake we had in the building here last December bothered me a touch - especially when he crawled out unannounced from under my bench while I was sitting there. Tampa1257
What kind of snake is that? It does look large enough to dispatch a possum, yet currently Ken is still safe.................

Guest Warren
» What kind of snake is that? » » It does look large enough to dispatch a possum, yet currently Ken is still » safe................. It's a Carpet python and they're pretty common here in Brisbane and you would be surprised at what this snake could fit through it's jaws. One of them tried to eat my cat once , I should have let him.:-D To put the size of this snake into perspective ( I almost wrote Kens snake but that would just set me up for gags) the timber post that it has it's head against is about as thick as a mans fist so how big do you think it's head is. JMH
You should have caught it and put it under the drivers seat of robs car!
Ken Gargett
» You should have caught it and put it under the drivers seat of robs car! yeah, nice thought but experience has told me that people don't find that funny. you put one python in a mini at uni and the girl never speaks to you again. some people are so sensitive. Ken Gargett
yes, common old carpet snake. the post is actually a lot thicking than a fist. the head is about the size of a big fist. snake that size would have no problem swallowing a possom or a cat or even a medium sized dog. they unhinge their jaws which allows them to get prey vastly bigger than themselves into their throats which stretch. you'll sometimes find one with a whopping great bulge half way along, being some poor animal it nailed. but the bulge will be far far bigger than the snake itself. this photo of a slightly bigger snake which tried to swallow a full grown sheep will give you an idea. sometimes they do go too big - this snake choked itself.
