You know Yoss, there's a ferry that goes from Osaka to Shanghai for around 18,000 yen.

I would go, but your government doesn't give me permission to go out either:-P

I was just there a few weeks ago and this time stayed at the Portman Ritz Carlton. Another hotel I like is right across the street, the JC Mandarin. You should check rates on both of those. Perhaps some of the locals there have some leads on discounts...
