Anyone had or heard of the new Illusione Cigars from Honduras? I don't know anything about them accept that the TV show my brother is working on requested them as part of the story line they are filming for the next episode. He bought me a 2 of the 88's (Lonsdales) and one of the f9's (Robusto).

Heard of...but not smoked.

What I have heard has been good things...other online cigar communities have reviews/news about them.

While I have not smoked either one, I have read many excellent comments that the Illusione is a very nice cigar and one that if you enjoy Padron or Don Pepin's then you would probably enjoy the Illusione cigars.

Interesting to see this. No I have not tried one yet.

They have gotten good reviews. Especially the Holy Lance from what I hear. I have just not gotten around to trying any.

I have heard of them and smoked quite a few of them. Great cigar, lots of flavor and great aging potential. I like the ~2~, ~88~, ~Cg4~, ~MK~ and the ~HL~. If you like non Cuban cigars I recommend trying some of these.

Just a little note, last recent box of the ~2~'s I bought where bitter and harsh when I first got them. After letting them rest for about six months they came around and smoked great, with no harshness or bitterness.

I agree with fishhound. i have seen, and smoked quite a few of them. the last few i had were to say the least poor. very harsh and unpleasant. the first one i smoked was excellent.

fishhound said it best. AGE 'EM

» Anyone had or heard of the new Illusione Cigars from Honduras?

I believe that all of the Illusione vitolas are Nicaraguan, not Honduran. I got a pair of the ~hl~ lanceros a month or two back, and the one I've smoked so far was fantastic. It remains to be seen whether this was a fluke, but so far I'm really impressed.

For the folks here who don't smoke many non-Cuban cigars, these are worth trying. In fact, there seem to be a whole bunch of great cigars coming out of Nicaragua at the moment: Oliva Serie V and O (particularly the V lanceros), Tatuaje, and Illusione in particular.

I've tried the cg4, 28 and 88. Cg4 can be a go to non Cuban cigar. One dimensional, good old fashioned great tobacco all the way through. Well made and a must try for anyone who enjoys bold tobacco.

I have had them for some time now, and other NON Cuban bands...

Folks my Cuban smoke are at the top, but for a great change up there are the bands in Miami that are great..............

I could not agree more! I just had my first Illusione tonight and it was fantastic! I had the cg/4 and it was just as good as any Tatuaje I have had:-D

» Never tried them but will do so.

» Out of interest what are the flavour and body characteristics?

The body is one dimensional toasted tobacco/ floral characteristic with a long finish. The cigar is good, but it doesn't make me want to buy more. I had two recently. The first I accompanied a good glass of Zaya Rum. The second I choose to marry with a ISOM. I haven't seen a lot of threads about marrying cigars here, but I smoked this side by side with a '04 RJ Exb #4. It brought new life to both. It confirmed for me that the combination of Nicaruagan and Cuban tobacco will make a fantastic cigar.
