Corona Grande

Slightly spongy to the touch. Nice unblemished wrapper. Unremarkable cap.

Cut easily with my Xikar Titanium cutter. Fired up easily as well. Revealing a woody and nutty flavor initially. The initial nose is spicy without being peppery. Quite nice and mixing well with a culebra made from Zaya Rum and Diet Pepsi. The cut cap revealed a well rolled dimple.

The nose is revealing cinnamon and gingerbread. Maybe some nutmeg? At only an inch in this corona grande is just beautifully delicious. Decedent is how I would describe her. This is probably the second I have had from this box and I am thankful I was able to acquire them from a brother in the western states. The draw is effortless and the burn is sharp. The body is a lite medium. Plenty of smoke with a full mouthfeel.

I think these are probably my only box of Hoyos. I do like an aged churchill or DC but do not have any boxes. This one may have me looking for more of the Le Hoyo line if I can find some with ppropriate time on them. I have had the Epi #2 but find them not to my taste.

Ending the first third I feel like this cigar is an example of a welterweight boxer. Agile but with power. I would equate this to complexity and satisfying flavor. So far it has been thoroughly enjoyable. A sip of the cigar, a sip of the culebra. The lime and cola

flavors with the dark rum of the culebra going quite well with the toasty nuttiness and woodsiness flavors that continue to build slowly as I move into the second third. There is an underlying exotic spice like five star but it is fleeting or subtle.

The nose is starting to show some sweet honey-like notes. Smoothing the spice. Nutmeg returns nicely through the nose. There is an ever so slight tingle on the lips with aged tobacco flavors. Much like the kiss of a mature woman. Lets not debate the eternal argument between potential and experience.. . All I can say is that as I seek immediate gratification it is delivered with each draw. Driving you on to the next puff. Causing you to moderate your headlong hurry. I imagine I feel like a lemming must feel. . .

There is red gravey on the stove for sausiche and macaroni with gravey tonight and the smells along with the cigar and my culeba transport me to a place I think is paradise here in my lounger.

Entering the last third the flavors are pretty much the same but fuller. Not a full bodied cigar so much as the mouthfeel and intensity of the flavors. More woods and toasty tobacco.

Ah hah! There is a butteriness and cinnamon coming through. Rather than becomming more spicey the nose is smoothing out. Only at one point has the burn gone off and it corrected itself.

I give this cigar a solid 94/100

Shrink, you're an insufferable smart ass. Aged des Dieux are one of the best that Hoyo has to offer. The best I've smoked have been from 2003. I've also got some '99s that aren't bad. Very sweet.

It's OK Sybil - take a deep breath. Then, take a look in the phone book for psychoanalgesics.

Fantastic cigar particularly from that period. Have struggled to get a great deal of cmplexity from 04/5/6.

Hey Dave,

I enjoyed your review as well. You had good pictures. ;-)

I took some pics but they turned out poorly. Had the camera set to large pics and didnt realize it. :-(
